How To Make PDroid Patch For Any Android Rom?

PDroid is an application that let's you take control of the access of private data by various applications you install on your device. You can find more information about it at this article. In this article, I will explain you how to make a PDroid patch for your rom so that you can install and use PDroid app from Android Market on your android smartphone and have full control over your privacy. Since, PDroid app is unable to run without the help of the patch you will need to flash it first via Clock Work Mod recovery and then only install the app.

Before you make a PDroid patch for your device, you will need to meet the following requirements.
  • Your device must be rooted. Find out more about rooting here.
  • S-OFF - For HTC Devices.
  • Clockwork Mod Recovery v3.0.2.6 or newer.
Once you fulfill the requirements above, you can follow the steps below to create a PDroid patch for your android rom. You can follow the simple steps below to make a patch on your Windows PC.
  • Download latest version of PDroid-Patcher for Windows from Misc. Tools and Apps page. Current version is  v1.27 Beta 3.
  • Once download, extract the file and you will get PDroidPatcher.exe applicaiton.
  • Run the file and browse to any rom zip file for which you want to create the patch in Android ROM zip : filed. Make sure the rom is de-odexed.
  • Now, press Patch button and wait for few minutes.
  • Two files named similar to PDroid-RESTORE-your-rom-name.zip and PDroid-vX.Y-your-rom-name.zip will be created in the folder where you ran PDroidPatcher.exe from. The first one is used to revert/remove PDroid patch while later one is used to patch your rom to use PDroid.

Now, that you have the appropriate patch for your custom rom, you can flash it on your device. Follow the simple steps below:
  • Copy the file similar to PDroid-vX.Y-your-rom-zip-name.zip file-name created above to your sd-card.
  • Reboot your device to clockwork mod recovery.
  • Select Install Zip From SD-Card -->> Choose Zip From SD Card and then select the file you copied earlier.
  • Wait till the Zip is flashed. Once done reboot your system.
That's all. You have successfully created latest version of PDroid Patch for your rom and now you are ready to install PDroid app. Download latest PDroid Privacy Protection app from Android Market and install it and you will be able to control your privacy setting for every application you install on your device.   3. This is only for Android Roms... I don't think there is any PDroid Privacy Protection app for Linux at the moment.

I am using the latest update (update-kernel-system-cm-7.2.0-RC5.5 ; update-second-kernel-system-cm-7.2.0-RC5.5) for galaxy mini, and I have created the patch from update-cm-7.2.0-RC5.5-GalaxyMini-Release-signed. I followed the steps above,  but when I execute Pdroid a message indicate that my system is not patched. Please help me to patch it (sorry for my bad English)

  10. Did you make the patch correctly? Follow the instructions again and then once patch is made flash it in CWM recovery (no need to wipe data or cache) and then install PDroid Privacy Protection app.

    I created using the utility and I flashed it. After that my phone is stuck on android logo. It does not proceed further. Can you please tell me what could be the issue?
