How to Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Pop to Official Gingebread 2.3.6?

After a long wait for official release of Gingerbread update for their Samsung Galaxy Pop, Indian galaxy pop users have finally got the official release of Android 2.3.6 few days ago. And in this article I will tell you how you can upgrade your Galaxy Pop to official gingerbread 2.3.6 manually (without the need of Samsung Kies). Those who are okay with it can go for over the air (OTA) updates through Kies. So, continue reading this article and get to know more about this update including how you can upgrade your galaxy pop's firmware to this latest official version.

Upgrading to Gingerbread is totally a new experience for Indian Galaxy Pop gts5570 users since it is their first update to gingerbread from Froyo. With this update we can see some slight changes in User Interface and maximum changes in performance and battery life as well as some addition of new features. Some changes in user interface include revamped Music app, new wallpaper and also some changes in icons used in various places in the whole system. You can instantly notice the performance boost as soon as you flash your galaxy pop gt-s5570 with this new update. Now, you will notice your device is fast and more efficient than previous. Also, it won't take you much time to see the difference in battery performance. Also, with this update you can now view Devanagari scripts (Hindi, Nepali, etc) are also rendered correctly without the need of flashing or changing anything. So, without any further delay I would like tell you how you can get this awesome Gingerbread update on your galaxy pop smartphone. You might also want to have a look at some of the Screenshots of the Rom. Click here to view them.

Please follow through the steps carefully to successfully upgrade your Galaxy Pop to Gingerbread 2.3.6. Also, note that there is a (slight) possiblilty of getting your device bricked, so all I can say is Do It At Your Own Risk. However, I have tried this with my own phone and luckily my device is safe and currently running this very update. So, let's get started.

Let's start by downloading necessary files and software required for upgrading to Gingerbread. Please, download the files from below:
  1. Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 for GTS5570
  2. Tass.ops [ Password : yagyagaire ]
  3. Gingerbread 2.3.6 (Indian version, GT-S5570_INU_S5570DDKQ7_S5570ODDKQ6_S5570DDKQ7.rar )
    MIRROR from mediafire
    OR, Mirror from JumboFiles.
    OR, Mirror download from HotFile.
Password to extract the rar (if needed) is  'sampro.pl' without quotes.
Okay, those were the files needed to upgrade your Galaxy pop to Android v2.3.6. Now that you have got the file extract it with the password above to get the file named S5570DDKQ7_S5570ODDKQ6_S5570DDKQ7_HOME.tar.md5 (this is the file that we will be using in the process). After you have got required files put them at a place (folder) and then follow the steps given below:
  • Charge your phone and personal computer to full charge (at least above 60%-70%) to avoid any issues during upgrade. (Note: If you don’t upgrade properly you might even brick your phone.)
  • Run S5570_Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 application on your PC.
  •  Click OPS button and select Tass_v1.ops file downloaded earlier.
  •  Select/Tick One Package Option (Don’t Check/Uncheck others, leave them as they are.)
  •  Click One Package button and select the S5570DDKQ7_S5570ODDKQ6_S5570DDKQ7_HOME.tar.md5 file you extracted earlier from your download.
  • [Optional, but recommended to avoid boot loops after flashing] Reboot your device to recovery mode (Press Home + Power buttons)  and then select Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe cache option.
  • Power off your phone and boot it in Download Mode (Press Home + Volume Down + Power Button at the same time).
  • If you see a yellow triangle icon with Downloading written inside it (that's our download mode) then connect your galaxy pop to your pc via USB.
  • If odin detects your phone it will show COM Port # (Port Number) written in yellow background on its window (see image below).
  • If everything above went well click Start Button to proceed then wait till it finishes (approx. 5.30 minutes) and reboots your phone.
  • When Odin says PASS close the application and disconnect your phone.
That's it after Odin says PASS in the upper top right box you may close Odin and disconnect your device. Here are few things to keep in mind during the whole process.
  1. If you get any error such as Can't Open USB Serial Port, then make sure Samsung Kies is closed (disabled). Also, another reason for this error is you don't have Samsung USB Drivers installed. If that is the case please install them from this link.

  2. Once you press Start in Odin don't disconnect your device until it says PASS.

  3. There is a high probability that your device will not boot successfully just after flashing. If this is the case wait till Odin says PASS and then (close Odin and) shut down your Galaxy Pop (press Power button for a long time or remove battery). Now, Go to Recovery Mode (Press Home + Power buttons)  and then select Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe cache option and then reboot your device.
Also, if you want to root your newly upgraded galaxy pop for superuser permissions please go through the article, 'Rooting Samsung Galaxy Pop Running Official Gingerbread 2.3.6.'

Hope everything above is clear enough for you to understand. If you have any doubts regarding any steps in the process of upgrading your Indian Samsung galaxy pop gts5570 to official Gingerbread 2.3.6 then please feel free to seek for help in the comments below.

  3. Anonymous, There is a probability it will work since we have already use European version of GB on Indian Galaxy Pop and it worked fine. However, it is not recommended flash it on your device (I suggest you wait for official release). However, the choice is upto you. Also, I will not be held responsible if something wrong happens with your device.

Also, please use your name while commenting and help use keep the comments clean. Thanks!

  4. Ashok Jalagam,
You just wipe data and cache in CWM recovery and then follow the steps above to flash official GB 2.3.6. There is a probability that you will get a boot loop after flashing so read above article carefully before doing anything.
    Good luck!

  5. Hey Yagya,
I have emanoN v3. What will happen if I update to 2.3.6? Should I update?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jayant D. Kulkarni,

Nothing will happen if you update to this from EmanoN rom or even other custom roms. The choice is completely yours whether to upgrade or not. However, this might help you in decision making. Like emaonN v3 the UI and desing are same however, you can't OC this rom. ALso, you won't be able to backup and restore this rom using CWM recovery.

You can also try and see if you like this otherwise you may return back to emanoN v3 rom.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think EmanoN is pretty well designed and quite stable with some new features. From your article I don't see any major advantages of installing this ROM over EmanoN. All of the features given by this ROM are already given by EmnoN and some additional features as well.
Hence better I will wait for next EManoN on 2.3.6 or later. Thanks for the nice articles.

  9. Does warranty finished after i update to GB 2.3.6 without kies......from ukesh shrestha nepal

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ukesh Shrestha,
Warranty is not finished (or voided) if you falsh this rom since it is Official GB firmware for Galaxy pop in Nepal too. However, rooting your phone will void the warranty.

So, go ahead and flash it. It won't finish your warranty.

Try wiping data and cache in recovery,

    ReplyDelete
  13. done everything that i could do no hope... nd same thing on my friend's phone also. Never had this on Froyo ROM only on stock GB(2.3.3 to 2.3.6).

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ashish Kotnala,
I can't get what your problem is, can you be more clear? Also if you follow all the steps here carefully then there is no problem. You can also see from the comments that it works very well. Try again very carefully.

    ReplyDelete
  15. see my problem is that i can root my GB phone successfully clear data cache nd everything but when i try to get root access my phone instantly gets rebooted. in cases like updating adfree, binary of su etc but no problem with root explorer.

    ReplyDelete
  16. will there be any prob if i upgrade from 2.3.4(asian version) to our indian version?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ashish Kotnala,
Then you are commenting on the wrong post to make me and other confuse. Also, I believe you have GB 2.3.6. So, to get root access on it first you flash GB 2.3.6, wipe cache and data and then downlaod the zip file from the rooting guide above and then flash it in CWM recovery. After that just reboot, no need to wipe cache and data. Also, if you are getting error while updating superuser it might mean GB doesn't support latest superuser app (don't update until the app does so itself.)

I hope all your problem will be solved now. If you get more errors please comment on related post or I will have to delete them.

  18. Shahnawaz,
No there won't be any problem until you follow with the instructions above. ALso, make sure you read through the whole article first before upgrading and everything will be fine. Good Luck!

i ve a doubt.. I got Pass on Odin but i couldnt feel any change in UI or any.. except i could see some icon change for battery and signal,contacts.. All my contacts in Sim and apps are not deleted.. its as it is working....i'm not sure whether the gingerbread is successfully updated or not.. can anyone clarify me.. i could see buildnumber = Gingerbread.ddkq7... So, is Gingerbread installed properly in my phone..??

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nitin,
Sorry for the late (Just woke up after sleeping). Anyway, did you followed the instructions clearly? Also, can you tell me more about your phone (for example, where is it from?, which OS/rom it was running, and any other details you can provide.)

Also, make sure you have drivers installed properly and you connect your device in download mod. Also, give it a few more tries.

    ReplyDelete
  30. blackpretty,
Glad everything went fine for you at last. And about the OS things, it's pretty much same with Froyo or Android 2.2 in design. However, there is a great increase in performance as well as battery life. Use it for a while and you will notice those differences clearly.

And, since you saw Bulild Number = Gingerbread.DDKQ7 it is sure you have upgraded successfully. You can also verify the Baseband to match S5570DDKQ7.

Also, you may view the screenshots of GB 2.3.6 here : http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/12/screenshots-of-gignerbread-236-on-my.html

  35. GauthaM, Keyboard work very fine. I guess you didn't wipe data after flashing so you are getting such errors. Wipe both data (do a factory reset) and cache in recovery and it will be solved.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nitin,
You don't need to install drivers after you installed Kies, Reinstall kies while your phone is connected and try to follow the steps again. Also, I meant to ask what is the baseband version or android version of your rom. Also, are you from India?

    hi yagya
i recently upgraded my galaxy mini from froyo to gingerbread 2.3.4
can i upgrade this official GB 2.3.6 directly from GB 2.3.4

    ReplyDelete
  39. SAM, yes you can directly upgrade your gts5570 from Gingerbread 2.3.4 to GB 2.3.6.

Also, can you please use your name instead of being Anonymous. It doesn't look quite good and seem like an unuseful (or spam) comment. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  40. SAM here...
i tried official gingerbread 2.3.6 through kies,
it said firmware upgrade successfully, but when i checked gingerbread version, its still the same (2.3.4) and there is no change in phone. everything is as it is. power option is also same.....?
i am confused whether my phone upgraded or not??

    ReplyDelete
  41. SAM, do a factory reset/wipe data in recovery. Also, wipe cache data in recovery. Then see if it shows right version. If it doesn't use the method described above.

Also, use your name while commenting instead of being Anonymous.

    ReplyDelete
  42. i tried factory reset in recovery but its still the same...

    ReplyDelete
  43. SAM, then I guess you need to flash it manually. Simply follow all the instructions above and do it. Now, I am going to bed, so if you have any problem write here and I will check (and reply) them tomorrow.

Also, Thanks for using your name (it looks much better now.)

  50. Thankyou Sir...I followed your steps and have upgraded to Gingerbread successfully. I want to know that whenever I uninstall some apps there are related files left in the sdcard. Is there any app regarding the freeing up such unused installation files from the sdcard?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Markronan,
Yes, you can upgrade to this Gingerbread, but, I don't recommend doing so. Instead follow the steps for rooting GB 2.3.4 here on this blog. You can root your device with it. All the best!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Harish,
Most of the files of the app you delete are automatically removed when you unistall the app. In some case the app create folders in sdcard and save their data there. In that case you can choose clear data and cache option in the uninstall window to remove the related files before clicking on unistall button. You can do so in manage applicaitons settings.

Also, some time the files are improtant such as when you do a backup using Titanium backup it stores the files in sdcard and thus it is not recommended to delete it. Instead you should copy it to PC for later use. So, be careful if you are deleting some folders/Clearing data and cache in Manage applications.

  57. SukhprEEt sinGH 'dHUrI,
Don't know about that. I have found if GB 2.3.6 is updated over rooted GB 2.3.4 then the root remains. However, it is not the case always. So, don't worry and just upgrade. If you want root then you can root it again by following the instructions on the article linked above. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Saikat,

You will need to update your apps. Or, simply reinstall them from market. I am sure they will work fine if you do so.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi i didn't follow the instructions for upgrading and rooting i just went straight for how to install apps to sd card and installed a custom rom and clockwork mod and then partitioned my sd and now i'm on 2.3.7 with s2e installed and its working fine. Seems easier as the custom rom's are already rooted so it involves less work. I don't know if that makes sense cos i'm new to this but that's the way i done it. Thanks for the info

    ReplyDelete
  60. Markronan,
You didn't did anything wrong. It's all right if you rom is working fine and with out any errors.

you don't need to open md5 file. Just open odin then in One Pacakage box load the tar (or md5) file. Then press start. Follw insrtuctions above carefully and also it is better to go through the comments.

  63. Rajesh,

I couldn't find any option like "Wipe data/factory" reset in my phone while pressing Power button...It shows only 3 options 1.Flight mode,2.Slient mode,3,Power off options

Where i can find this option?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I found that option. But it was a problem that it shows error in Message section...
Cannot open the use serial port:code 32
I am still waiting to complete the process. Now time has reached 25.00 minutes.
    What can i do now?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Rajesh,
The option is not found by pressing Power button. You need to go to recovery mode (Home + Power button) then you will see the option.

Also, you may terminate the process. If you are getting can't open serial port error means your port is busy and Odin can't find it. Here is how you solve it, it might be possible that Kies is using the port so, close/disable Kies. also, make sure you have drivers installed. I have explained in the article above about this issues so read it carefully first before flashing. I hate it when you don't go through the complete article and just post a comment. Please, only post comments when you go through all and can't understand something or if something is not included there. Thanks!

  67. Hi yagya.. I upgraded my phone and I am very much disappointed with the new overscrolling style..:( I want to go back to froyo for that experience. Is there any way to downgrage from gingerbread to froyo?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Vinoth R,
I think you shouldn't make a switch just because of only overscrolling style. And, it is possible to downgrade to froyo but, since i haven't tried it (and I also heard some saying they bricked their phone while doing so) I suggest you don't go for it. However, if you want to give it a go, simply flash S5570DDKC1 firmware like you did the above one using Odin. You can search for S5570DDKC1 firmware in google and you will get the download link.

Good Luck with it. P.S. Do it at your own Risk.

    ReplyDelete
  69. As you said, the performance and battery backup are really good. I loved the overscrolling style in froyo. I trust in your suggestion and I will getting used with the new style. Otherwise, the update is working good. btw, Your blog is awesome. I am following your blog. Create a G+ page also. It would attract more nerdy people. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Vinoth R,
Believe me GB is awesome than Froyo in many ways and you will get used to it after few days. Also, thanks for the suggestion. I will consider making one soon (but don't know when it will be). There are some reasons that are holding me back for now to create a G+ page.

You can download Arabic version of GB from http://hotfile.com/dl/130918553/4c3c68b/S5570JPKQ8.rar.html
[Make sure you check your firmware's baseband and match the first 7 letters before flashing for a asfe flashing].

  76. M sorry... flashing my pop to mini is taking more than 5 30secs what should i do... i cant even stop flashing it... should i wait till everything is done... (My apologies)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Royston,
Apology accepted.. I do this in order to keep this site spam free so my visitors (peple like you) feel more secure. I hope you understood and sorry for being rude!

So, If it is taking more than 6 minutes means Odin is doing noting related to flashing the firmware. So, you may disconnect it.

Now, Please close your Kies and make sure you have drivers installed (if you Kies, drivers are installed already). Then, run and setup Odin as said above. Now, put your phone in download mode (the screen wiht Downloading text written on it) and then connect it. make sure everything is prepared as above in Odin then press start button. After 5-6 minutes it should say PASS and you may disconnect your phone.

Follow the steps above carefully, read through other comments (they are helpful) and then do the flashing task. I am sure you will succeed. Good Luck!

Yes, this is official Indian version firmware for all those galaxy pop in India. If you are from India or if your phone's baseband was similar to (S5570DDKC1 or S5570DDKA7) before upgrading to any GB version then this is the right version for your device. Go ahead and flash it...

Yes, you will need to backup your data and apps before upgrading. But, it is not required to do so while rooting. However rooting is a critical task and it is better to backup your data (for precaution) for occasional data loss while rooting.

No, need to root your FROYO to root/upgrade to GB 2.3.6.

    ReplyDelete
  91. arvind,
That is not a problem I guess. It is the default behavior (or feature) of Gingerbread so you might want to stop bothering about that.

    ReplyDelete
  92. After upgraded to 2.3.6, I was unable to listen FM radio properly. It is paused and paused after sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  93. THANX..Yagya Gaire for giving all that information. Now I'll try it.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Sunil,
FM works pretty well. I am sure you have some signal problems. Make sure you have connected your headset properly and try again. If you still think you have problem wipe data or do a factory reset from settings (* doing so will remove all your apps, data, contacts, etc; everything in internal storage).

  95. Hi yagya
    this is sohil from gujarat.
I have ddkc1 firmware non rooted.
Do i need to root my galaxy pop before upgrade process?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Good morning yagya...
I found my answer within your blog.
I will go for it today.
One more thing to tell you please dont advice anyone to downgrade to froyo themself because earlier i had bricked my device while downgrading from xxkpk 2.3.4 to ddkc1 2.2.1 though i had correct filese and i went through correct process.
Upgrading is quite safe but dlwngrade is much risky. Its better to go to service center to get downgraded ur device...
Thanks yogya for this wonderful blog.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Thanks mate.....its just worked softly. Steps mentioned by you are very much detailed

    ReplyDelete
  101. Aman,
There is no harm even if you don't follow (or skip) the optional steps. That's why they are optional. A crucial step wouldn't be considered optional.

plzz reply soon coz tomorow is our holiday.so i m planing to upgrade my phone by tomorow.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Nepali Kto,
So, you are from Nepal. Yes, you can yes this method in your Windows 7 PC and it is better if you remove you sim card and memory card (but it is not a compulsion).

Also, GB doesn't have flash player. The fact is Galaxy Pop doesn't support flash player since it has ARM v6 processor. However, a modded version of flash player works on custom roms in galaxy pop. Look around the site and you will learn more.

If you stick with the instructions above, you will probably be fine. Good Luck!

  106. This is off topic. But I need this!
How can I take snapshot of the screen?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Vinoth R,
To capture a screenshot of the screen you can use apps found in market or simply press Home + Power button to take screenshot. It might be difficult to capture at first but you will get used to it later.

  108. if i upgrade my phone to gingerbread,do it erase all my application n games dat i had downloaded before??? n wat abt my contact list??

    ReplyDelete
  109. manutd,
Yes, upgrading your phone to GB will erase all your apps, data and your contacts (unless you have them stored on your sd-card or sim card). So, it is recommended that you backup everything you have in your internal storage using some apps (like Titanium Backup, etc) from market before upgrading.

    Alll the best for upgrading.

    ReplyDelete
  112. ajmal,
You can flash CWM recovery and then go for installing any custom roms available for galaxy mini. You can find flashing custom rom article around here, please look for it and do as suggested there. Cyanogen Mod is a good custom rom if you are not sure which to flash.

    ReplyDelete
  113. manutd,
No, you don't need to backup system apps. Only backup user apps and contacts and user data in Titanium backup. And, ofcourse you will need to root to restore this backup. You can root with the handy article I wrote for rooting your device. Again, I am not sure about it but, I think you can tether in Gingerbread 2.3.6. If you want tethering so bad you can simply flash any of the custom rom like Cyanogen Mod 7 that can let you tether easily.

So, don't get confused. Read through the articles (and comments too) here carefully and you don't need to fear. Good Luck.

    ReplyDelete
  114. hi yagya thx for ur reply..i wanna kno if i upgrade to gb..isnt it over???is it necessary to flash custom rom again..cant i use my phone just after upgrading to gb or is there more other process still to do with phone???

    ReplyDelete
  116. hey ur resumable link is not working is there any problem with hotfile link?

    ReplyDelete
  117. mantud,
Yes, you can use your phone as it is after upgrading to GB 2.3.6. No need to flash any custom roms or recovery. They are for those who want to get extra features on their phone and want to get a new look.

If you are afraid of losing your device or are happy with it after upgrading to GB 2.3.6, you can stay with it, you don't need to change or upgrade to anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Marish,
The resumable download link works now, so give it a try. If you are talking about updating via Odin then it can be done with 10 minutes of time. It takes approximately 6 minutes to flash the firmware.

And, also there is no problem with hotfile download. You can even try it.

    ReplyDelete
  119. thanks a lot! yagya
    successfully upgraded to 2.3.6.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Is it required to have an internet connection during upgrading process??
because I use internet through my cell.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Marish, You are welcome.

    @hari shanker,
no, you don't require internet connection except when downloading the required files and firmwares for your pop. After that you don't need connection to upgrade to GB 2.3.6. This is just like and offline upgrade so it's quite secure too.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Success!!!!

    It Works fine..
    THANK YOU YAGYA...
Wish You A Happy New Year!!!!!!!

  123. hi!!!
i updated my pop to 2.3.4 by following your steps.......and now i did the same for 2.3.6 update,to my pop it is good now.....what happened is....i did not loose any of my data or contact, photos etc....but my cell information says that its 2.3.6! i mean that u said that it will erase all the data...but nothing happened on my pop....so is that a problem????

    ReplyDelete
  124. dharma,
No, if the information says 2.3.6 then everything should be right. The case with you might be you might have your contacts on your sim card or phone (external) memory that retained them even after flashing the rom. Also, photos are stored in sd-card by default in DCIM folder so they are also there. If you notice carefully you will find some of your apps missing (i.e. only if you have installed any new apps from market).

    ReplyDelete
  127. Niranjan,
Wifi should be working pretty fine. Check your router and mobile settings. If you are sure all your settings are correct and still having problem with wifi please do a factory reset from settings or wipe data in recovery (Note : Doing so will remove your data and apps, so backup them first).

    ReplyDelete
  128. aravind,
Gingerbread is a very bulky rom that needs many resources to run and operate nicely without any problems. ANd, killing task is not the solution to it. I suggest you leave it as it is. If you can't do so try V6 supercharger. (search this blog for it).

    ReplyDelete
  132. manutd,
I don't think you can bring those videos back if they were deleted (but you can try installing the same app which hide those videos and see if it can find anything.) Also, to see 3G logo, you should have correct settings from your network operator and then you should check use MObile data option in Wireless and Networks settings. If you are not sure how to do so your operator will be happy to help you configure 3G on your device.

THEN I REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS BY RESTARTING PC THEN I MADE IT.

very very THANKX for guidance, YAGYA

    ReplyDelete
  142. No, one other way you can unroot is to simply remove/uninstall busybox and superuser app using root uninstaller, Titanium backup or similar app. P.S those apps like titanium backup won't work of you unroot your device.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I am glad to hear everything worked fine at the end. Now, enjoy your upgraded phone.

    ReplyDelete
  144. thanks yagya .... as after  reading your comment it means that unrooting can be done by instaling root uninstaler and from that  unistall supersuser and busybox and all  other root applications? m i right in geting your words?

    ReplyDelete
  145. No, need to uninstall other root applications to unroot your device, just uninstall superuser.apk and busybox. However, it is to be noted that other root apps also will stop working as soon as you uninstall the superuser app.

    ReplyDelete
  146. hey... i click start and it says check image files??

  148. Your One Package seems to have error or you haven't import the Tass.ops file in OPS field. Double Check everything and see if you have followed all the instructions carefully, it will work for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Hi Yagya, first of all, thanks for the work. second, i'm in latinamerica, should i use this same firmware or another one?

    ReplyDelete
  150. i already follow your instruction and it work :D
but wipe data/factory reset is important or not?

  151. Its getting stuck at system.rfs download... what to do?

    ReplyDelete
  152. its okay now.. i had to remove the sd card.. it worked fine.. thnx :D

    ReplyDelete
  153. Wait... it might take some time to flash it. If this fails you might get in trouble. If it doesn't move to another download then try flashing another firmware.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Glad, Everything went fine. Enjoy the upgraded firmware.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Sorry, for late reply. Wiping data is optional and it is for those who are stuck in samsung logo like you. Please go back to recovery and do a factory reset/wipe data. Also, make sure you wipe cache and then reboot. It should boot fine and if it doesn't try flashing another similar rom.

    ReplyDelete
  156. a NEW wipe chache fixed the situation. WMKPO really laggy thou. gonna root it and go to CM7..

    ReplyDelete
  157. hmmm, ok now: i DID wipe the cache, and then it stuck on the samsung screen over and over again. flashed the WMKPO anyway thinking it would fix the issue but still get stuck in the samsung screen. ... any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Hey Yagya!
well, coudln't wait for answer so did it anyway. FYI it's working fine. I'm swithching to the S5570LWMKPO nonetheless just to be sure. do i need to wipe cache before flashing it? (considering it's the same version of android 2.3.6?)

    ReplyDelete
  159. It is recommended to use the firmware for Latin America itself. Though, some firmwares can be flashed on every devices, it is hard to tell if it will work for sure or not. So, select the best firmware for your device from your region.

    ReplyDelete
  160. It is not very important. But, If you are having any problems after upgrading then it is the main reason that might be causing the problem and in that situation it is needed to wipe data and cache.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Yes! It sure is an official update from Samsung for Indian Galaxy Pop.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Tass file is of 0 mb Yagya Ahire ?? Doesnt it?? Reply fast

    ReplyDelete
  163. Yagya Ahire After downloading odin multi downloader it is showing reset time as 300 sec. Will it be fine ?

    ReplyDelete
  164. hi yagya everything went fine i finally upgraded my android version from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 its great thanx a lot

    ReplyDelete
  165. Once you load the Tass file in OPS field, the reset time should be set to normal. Then load the Package and flash it. Follow each step carefully and you will get it done.

    ReplyDelete
  166. You ask too much question.... But, I don't get bothered by them. The thing that bother is you are not just trusting the info above. Just read through other comments and see all have succeeded by following the same instructions. Just try it and you will get it done. And, yes the Tass file should be around 100 KB or something like 100 bytes (which is shown as 0 MB in windows).

    ReplyDelete
  171. hey yagya..its works fine...but my kies says " the connected device does not support for kies updates" ...

    ReplyDelete
  172. Maybe you flashed the wrong firmware... Kies only can recognize your device with same firmware as when you bought your phone or a upgrade to the same version of firmware. Try upgrading your Kies to latest version and see if it does the trick. Or, try flashing the firmware for your region. Search for firmwares download here.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Are you sure your phone is connected and detected by the Odin? Also, make sure you close Kies before proceeding. If your phone is not detected try to (install Kies for drivers) or simply install drivers (download from Roms and utilities section).

    ReplyDelete
  175. HI yagya,,

can i make sd card partition on this rom ?
if so can u tell me how to do it plz....

    ReplyDelete
  176. What the error during rooting? You can simply flash the root file I posted for GB 2.3.6 (I am quite sure it works fine). Or, you may even re-upgrade or flash to Indian version if you want.

    ReplyDelete
  177. As one might say nothing is impossible -so, it is possible to do so, but not recommended- , even if you partition you need to convert it to FAT32 (which is sloe like sdcard) so you can instead use Gemini app manager or Install manager to move the apps to .android_secure folder on your sdcard.

    ReplyDelete
  184. To backup your apps use app control or Gemini app manager or similar other apps. You need to also backup contacts (you can export them to sdcard or move them to simcard or sync them with your google account) too. When everything you need is backed up then you are set to go.

    ReplyDelete
  185. i already backed up my contacts & sd files. do these apps u mentioned require rooting? & will my warranty be void in any way?

    ReplyDelete

  189. Your zip might be corrupted or you might have entered wrong password. Check to make sure everything is fine. It's size should be above 100 MB.

    ReplyDelete
  190. updated very easily by following these steps and without wiping cache or resetting to factory settings. Also it took only 2.00 minutes against the mentioned 5.30 minutes.
Also not to mention, I tried updating with Kies but it was a real pain. First there were errors in downloading and when the download was successful, the installation stuck on a window for almost 3 hours, reaching the threshold of my patience.
    Better use the above method.
    Thanks Yagya Gaire.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Mention not! However, I have mentioned about 5.30 minutes since that is the time Odin takes to says PASS (even though your phone reboots within 3 min with the new firmware). But, for extra precaution I suggest everyone to disconnect their device after Odin says pass (i.e about 6 minutes).

    ReplyDelete
  197. Be optimistic! If you follow the instructions carefully then it won't fail. In case it fails and you are lucky you might get a second opportunity to flash the firmware (if you can still access download mode) else you are doomed --you can only claim your warranty at Samsung Center by acting dumb.
