UPDATE!! 2012/04/01 The download links are dead and the developer is away from the project (temporarily). Guess this is just a epic again until he gets back or until some who have downloaded the zips previously creates some mirrors for them.
I get many requests for overclocking kernels for stock Samsung firmwares for our little Galaxy Pop/Mini GT-S5570 smartphone almost every other day. There have been many questions such as, 'How do I overclock my galaxy mini with stock firmware?" and/or "Are there any overclocking kernels for stock gingerbread?" and it felt so bad to simply reply "No, you can't" or "No, not yet". And finally today, thanks to the developer, godell, I have got a positive response for all those questions mentioned above. Yes, what you had longed for such a long period of time has come true and now it is possible to overclock your stock gingerbread rom. In this article, I will present you with overclocking kernels for your stock rom and provided you step by step instructions on installing and using these overclocked kernels on your device.
Here is what the developer has to say in this regard,
"If you want to overclock but do not want to use a custom rom, this is the right way."So, basically if you want to overclock without having to install or flash any of the custom roms then this article is the one you ought to go through. And, before we really move on to flashing these kernels on your galaxy mini/pop with stock rom, let's check out some of the features of these kernels.
- A wide range of Max. frequencies to select from upto 864 MHz. (Note: Not all devices can be overclocked upto the max. frequency available.)
- Seven Governors to choose from (smartassv2, ondemand, performance, interactiveX, conservative, userspace, and powersave).
- 6 I/O Schedulers (deadline, cfq, sio, BFQ, vr, and noop).
- 50% AHB-BUS
- Ramswap Enabled
- Rooted Kernel including busybox and su binary.
So, these were the features of the kernels that you are about to flash on your device. Please see the
baseband version of your firmware in About Phone Settings and then choose the right kernel from below that is for your firmware. These kernels are to be flashed using stock recovery (no need of custom recovery) and currently the firmwares with these basebands (viz. S5570LWMKPJ, S5570LWMKPO, S5570DDKQ7, S5570DXKPD, S5570XWKS2 and S5570BVKQ4) are supported.
Warning : Since this will root your device too, it will void your warranty. Also, only flash the kernel that is specific for your firmware. Flashing kernel from other firmware basebands might harm your device.
Disclaimer : Do It At Your Own Risk! Also, do a backup of your data and apps before proceeding.
Instructions to Flash Overclocking Kernels :
1. Download the edited boot.img or kernel from the downloads section for Galaxy Mini at Roms and Utilities page. (Make sure you download the one that matches your baseband version in the name.)
2. Copy the downloaded file to the (root directory) of your sdcard.
3. Reboot your phone to stock recovery mod (Press Home + Power button).
4. Select Apply Update From SD Card option.
5. Choose (with the Home button) the file which you copied earlier to your sd card. [It is the file that you downloaded from above.]
6. Wait till it finishes flashing/installing the kernel.
7. Reboot you device when everything is done.
That's all you have successfully flashed the kernel update on your device and are now ready to overclock your device.
How to set/adjust CPU Frequencies after flashing the kernels?
1. Download No Frills CPU control app or Set CPU or similar app of your choice from market.
2. Select the desired Max CPU Frequency you want in Max. clock freq. field.
3. Also, select a governor in Governor field. [If you don't know which one to choose then go for smartassv2 governor].
4. Select an I/O Scheduler (sio recommended).
5. If you want the settings to remain intact even if you reboot your device, then put a tick mark beside Set on Boot option. [Be careful, only select this option if your device is stable at the adjusted frequencies.]
6. When everything is done, close the app and use your device normally.
And, once you are done, then you are done with it. Now enjoy your overclocked stock firmware with no lags and smooth performance. If your baseband is not mentioned above or if you can't find overclocking kernels for your device then you can request one for yours. Post the link for your boot.img file along with your firmware details at the comments below or at this development thread at xda-forums. Also, don't forget to thank the developer at that thread for his amazing work.
Further more, please do post a comment below along with your firmware details so that other users can know if the overclocking kernels worked fine for you or not. Don't hesitate to ask for help if needed.

guyz can i ask something?what was the better stock firmware?i have XXKPI!i think that there was better firmware!sorry for bad english!just asking ^_^
ReplyDeleteI have requested the developer for this baseband too and you might get one soon. You can get updated with latest info at : https://www.facebook.com/yagyagaire
ReplyDelete:)
Hey yagya
ReplyDeletecan u give torrent links for all the latest custom roms for my galaxy mini dddkq7
@mike14, The recommended best firmware it's the official one for your region; got you XXKPK seems to be a later version so you can flash it.
ReplyDelete@manpreet , Sorry I can't do so since I have very poor connection. I have provided all download links at roms and utilities page do download from there.
ReplyDeleteAfter flashing this file, my phone is continuously rebooting. Any help?
ReplyDeleteThis is not stable a least for S5570DDKQ7. Faced many issues like loop rebooting, phone hangs, phone lagging a lot. Had to reflash the stock ROM 2.3.6 and now installing all applications again.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the kernel is not working properly as for now. So, the only way now is to re-flash the original boot.img file (or more simply reflash your stock rom using Odin).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback, I guess kernels are not working fine. But, I did mention you to do the backup before flashing, didn't I?
ReplyDeleteis there any possibility to overclock my galaxy mini with android 2.3.4 and baseband S5570BVKQ5?
ReplyDeleteIf your baseband is not mentioned above then currently there is no way to do so. But, you can submit your boot.img (from your rom) and then request the developer to add OC features to it.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Yagya. But please help.I flashed in my S5570DDKQ7 base band version. But manytimes the phone gets switched off and also hangs.I flashed again but result s same. What to do now?Plaese help me.
ReplyDeleteis the kernel directly usable without rooting...also is kernel for ddkq7 stable?
ReplyDeleteI'm entirely new to this.....
Can I overclock android 2.3.4 with baseband version S5570XXKPM
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the kernels are stable or not since I haven't tried any of them. But, if any error occurs you can flash the stock ROM using Odin and get it fixed. Also make sure you backup your data for extra precaution before trying it.
ReplyDeletehey guys i found a new thing try it
ReplyDeletego to the settings >about phone
and then tap "Android Version" 4 times quickly and there u will see a "pic of android" but we can not zoom it,Share it etc..
well i tried it on firmware DDKQ7.
can u tell me what is that..?
S5570XWKS2
ReplyDeletefrozen on bootscreen ? just says godell wore v.1 :(:(
Try wiping data and cache in recovery and see if it boots fine. If that doesn't work then you might need to flash back your original boot.img file or the whole firmware --I hope you have got your backup as per I recommended.
ReplyDeletedid try that, have flashed back to stock now, could i have been unlucky and if i tried again mite it work?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure since, I have tried them (as I don't have firmwares with all those basebands), however as reported by some other it is working while few other reported it is not working. I asked the developer to check them and correct the bugs if found any. So, I suggest you don't try it for now.
ReplyDeletehello, can you give me the min and max frequency of android 2.3.6
ReplyDeleteS5570DDKQ7 baseband??coz sometimes my phone restarts or hang and even when i play games, when i exit, it will restart..my min is 245 and my max is 604 and i use ondemand and sio but it going to be restarted..what is the stable frequency gor
S5570DDKQ7..can you help me..thanks
You device should be stable upto 753 MHz max. frequency. But, it is rebooting in 604 MHz frequency means there is some problem with the OC kernels. I have requested the developer to take another look at them. So, let's wait for some feed backs from him.
ReplyDeletejust out of curiosity did i need clockwork recovery to do this? as i just did it through the stock recovery menu, but i read other places it has to be done through clockwork?
ReplyDeletethanks yagya..i remove my oc kernels so my phone is reflash again to 2.3.6 again...i will wait for your feedback about the stable min and max of S5570DDKQ7 2.3.6 gingerbread...i really want stable min and max frequency T_T
ReplyDeleteso i want to install a new kernel for my gingerbread 2.3.6
ReplyDeleteS5570DDKQ7 baseband and i will wait for the reply from the developer
No, you don't need Clockwork Mod recovery to flash these kernels. As, you can read in the post above, these are fully flashable in stock recovery. :)
ReplyDeletesorry but how can i do it? pls thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteJust extract your firmware (see article, how to extract system files from stock firmware as well as related video for that) using any Archive Manager and then get the boot.img file inside it and then upload it and give me the link. I will ask the developer to make OC kernels for it.
ReplyDeletehello, my phone is now rebooting how can i remove this kernel pls
ReplyDeleteThere have been many discussions regarding this issue St the comments, so please go though them. Also, to remove the kernels you simply flash the I original boot file or a while Samsung firmware using Odin.
ReplyDeleteFix for DDKQ7 in same link. Recomended to download again...
ReplyDeletePlease report in my xda thread only ..
Thanks :-)
FIX FOR DDKQ7 in same link,
ReplyDeleterecomended to download again...
Please report in my xda thread only.. :D
Thanks...
is there a fix ddkq7 for 2.3.6????
ReplyDeleteyagya, kindly upload the fix ddkq7 plss
ReplyDeleteYes, DDKQ7 kernel is refined. You can download it from Roms and Utilities page and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteDownload it from Roms and Utilities page for galaxy mini and give it a try.
ReplyDeletehas S5570XWKS2 been fixed?
ReplyDeleteYes, all OC kernels have been updated. Give them a try and report back if it works or not.
ReplyDeleteokay thanks will try tonight and let you know if its working
ReplyDeleteok, i try the new link for ddkq7..can you give me the min and max stable frequency??
ReplyDeleteMinimum try around 245 MHz (default is also ok) and for Maximum give 753 MHz and 801 MHz a try. If the kernel is stable at these frequencies then it is probably working good.
ReplyDeletehow about the governor and i/o scheduler?
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIs there an OC kernel for
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: S5570XWKT2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL703231 root"@"DELL140#1
Build number: GINGERBREAD.JVKT1
Please, see in the list at the articles above if your baseband is listed or not. I think there is one for that too (check it out).
ReplyDeleteGovernor, try smarta**v2 and I/O scheduler use sio. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the response but My base band isn't listed in the article. Any help?
ReplyDeleteYes, you can submit the boot.img from your Samsung firmware to the developer at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485122
ReplyDeletehello S5570BVKQ4 is not stable, phone is rebooting
ReplyDeleteHi and thanks for the good article. One question. As I am currently running
ReplyDeleteXWKT7 2.3.6 firmware, I'm not sure what one of the above to choose. If any would work at all? Do you have some info on this? Would mean a lot.
Here's where I found the version:
http://androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-mini-s5570-xwkt7-236-firmware/2/
is there kernel available for baseband ver. s5570xxkpi
ReplyDeleteEdit: Found the right file on the forum and successfully OC to 844MHz. Runs a -lot- faster now.
ReplyDeleteThanks a million for all the superb stuff on your blog ! Great fan !
ReplyDeleteoc'd my SGM DDKQ7 and its working like a charm ! very fast ! so thanks once again :-)
my settings -
max freq (unstable) - 844MHz
max freq (stable) - 825Mhz !
All though i read about overclocking in various websites, saying "its not worth risking your device just for a bunch of games" ; Apart from the normal stuff about battery drain etc some were saying stuff like it would burn your circuits. Is it true ?
what is your opinion on overclocking ? is it worth it ?
Last question (off topic)-
I found it intersting using the scipt manager for creating terminal shortcuts. (tut from xda).
Are there any such other ways to use the script manager in more cooler ways ? and like C -Programming, java etc, are there any special codes ? If yes, plz post a link on such codes.
sorry for so many questns. Thanks a lot in advance ! :-)
plzzz reply... your opinion is vital for re-flashing to stock rom again since my battery is dying quickly ( my bad ) also its heating my device to *ucking 65deg even when i m at 604Mhz ! ( i accidentally kept my phone under the pillow nd whn i woke up, the phone was stuck in a black screen nd it was tooooo much heated up ! )
ReplyDeletei was just giving u my experience so try to understand nd reply ! i am worried !
Akarsh Sundareshwar P ,
ReplyDeleteGuess it is really your bad luck. Yes, you can reflash to stock rom and hope that the problem will be solved. I suggest you to be careful with your device from next time.
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS MEAN BY OVERCLOCK???????????????
ReplyDeleteOverclocking is the process of increasing your CPU frequency so as to experience smooth and less laggy system. It refers to increasing the power of CPU. I don't recommend doing such things unless you really need it to do.
ReplyDeletecan i OC with baseband xxkpk ?
ReplyDeletehow to uninstall? makes my stock and rooted SGM (gingerbread) unstable and reboot from time to time since I installed it. Please tell how to uninstall. using S5570DXKPD thank you.
ReplyDeleteFlash the DXKPD firmware using Odin again and it will be solved.
ReplyDeletedo you have the tutorial on how to re-flash the DXKPD firmware?
ReplyDeleteThe steps are same as you followed while upgrading to GB. Flash a DXKPD firmware using Odin one package option.
ReplyDeleteMy build number is GINGERBREAD.BVKQ4, but my baseband is S5570BVKQ5. Does this mean I shouldn't use the BVKQ4 update?
ReplyDeleteIts kinda weird that the build number has the same code, but the baseband is different :O
I guess you can give it a try... But, as you can see many people find these still not working fine so I would recommend that you wait until later revisions are added.
ReplyDeleteit will root your phone too.what if your phone is already rooted is it okay or you have to unroot frst
ReplyDeleteAny feedback on S5570XWKS2 yet? And will flashing this make my phone lose all the data as being hard reset?
ReplyDeleteNo, flashing it won't cause loss in your data but, if you get into trouble you might need to re-falsh the rom which will cause data loss. So, backup everything important before you play with experimental things. And, I don't think it works fine yet. The developer too seems to have abandoned this project since I have not heard from him from quite a while.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope for the best to happen.
Two things ....
ReplyDelete1)DDKQ7 kernel is not stable above 700 mhz,it freezes or reboots while opening a game.Is it entirely normal?I downloaded from link this march so it must be a fixed kernel,is it?
2)Is cmod7rc5.5 stable at 800 mhz ?
1. Yes, maybe the stock roms are less powered up. The links are for fixed one alright. However, I found this whole idea not that good one. I now don't recommend overclocking stock roms instead use custom roms if you want to overclock.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, custom roms are quite stable in Overclocking, However, I can't say if it will be stable at 800 MHz. It depends upon your mini's hardware but you might be able to go above 700 MHz limit.
thank u but if u have any additional information in any articles here i will be grateful
ReplyDeleteCool to have your stock rom Galaxy mini overlocked but when i tried to use it. I notice that stock rom are running unstable when running 604 mhz and above. I think stock roms are not capable of running high frequency speed, and I also notice that battery heats faster, compared to custom rom CYANOGEN Galaxy MINI is performing very well no bug at all smoothly running and phone does not stress.... so I suggest quit overlocking a stock rom rather swith custom rom for better experience
ReplyDeleteHi Yagya,
ReplyDeleteI applied a wrong baseband l from Godell and my Samsung galaxy mini is bricked.
It boots past samsung.com and then it stays fixed at Godell's screen.
I was trying to overclock my device.
Please help me.
my add is knitwrit@gmail.com
Yes, totally agree with you. Stock firmware are not for overclocking, go with custom ones if you want to overclock. It's much more easier and fast.
ReplyDeleteFlash any stock firmware using Odin and it will be solved. You can follow my instructions on upgrading to GB.
ReplyDeleteHey I want a stable not risky oc .i dont want to change my basic ui
ReplyDeleteI m on gb 2.3.6
Ddkq7
Unknown, I guess what you want is not available currently. However, you can do a backup and give the OC kernel from above a try. Or simply install emanoN v5 custom rom (recommended) and you can overclock it easily with No Frills CPU control app or other similar apps. And, the best part is it has stock look & UI as you want. You can search here for emanoN rom.
ReplyDeletelinks no funcionan. links error. please new links
ReplyDeleteos links so dao erro para baixar como faso ????
ReplyDeleteis there any kernel for S5570JVKT1
ReplyDeleteKernel Version : 2.6.35.7-perf-CL703231root@DELL140#1
Baseband version : S5570XWKT2
Build Number : GINGERBREAD.JVKT1
the download is dead plz upload in mediafire
Yes, the download is dead. We will have to hear from the developer for the links. Be patient.
ReplyDeletethe link to dowload kernel for s5570ddkq7 is inactive.......other link plzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteDDKQ7 kernel is not working a the moment. Read other comments for more information.
ReplyDeletethe links are still inactive :(
ReplyDeleteoh damn! I pass nearly 2 or 3 weeks looking for overclock stock kernel and when I find it, it doesn't work on my device, my baseband is S5570XWKQ5, do you know any way to overclock it?
ReplyDeleteI found that way but I don't know if it will work, what do you think?
ReplyDelete1)download the file http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jz9ug8wg6ffxnk12)pass it to the directory of the sd card3)Turn on the device on recovery mod and choose "install zip from sd card"4)then "choose zip from sd card"5)Select the file downloaded "update-godell-lwmkpo-signed" and wait until it install and the reboot the phoneThis is from this page, I think, but the man that said that, said that is for any galaxy mini, he is wrong, right?
Try this it should be the S5570XWKTH oc kernel
ReplyDeletehttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/54164582/bootS5570XWKTH.zip
Currently the links are down. And, seems like the developer is also not going to continue the project soon. So, I guess only choice left is to flash an custom rom and then overclock your device.
