With the introduction of Adobe Flash Player, World Wide Web (aka Cyber Space) has been populated with many rich and interactive web content such as animations and games. Flash games and animations are developed using Adobe Flash or other similar products. Anyone can fall in love with such rich web media, animations, movies and designs. So, in this article I will explain you how you can download these flash files either animations or games with .swf extension directly to your computer so that you can have fun with such rich media contents offline also.

So, first of all you will need to download this freeware software called iWisoft Flash SWF Downloader and install it in your personal computer. Then you will need to find the url of the flash game/animation that you want to download. In this example, I will download a Pokemon Flash game from pokemonflash.net. Please follow these simple steps and you will be able to download any flash content from the web and stream it offline.  I've also included a sample image of each step so that it will be easy for you to download the swf files.
1. Copy the URL of the flash game/animation that you want to download.

2. Open iWisoft Flash SWF Downloader and paste the URL in the textbox beside ‘Url Address’ Label. Choose a path where you want to save the file and then click Download button.

3. That’s all. The program will list all the swf files found on the URL and start downloading them. Wait till it completes downloading.

You can also use the Copy URL button at the bottom right of the iWisoft Flash SWF Downloader program to copy the URL of the swf file and download it manually from your default download manager. Sometimes the program is unable to detect the file if you close the browser too fast. So, keep the browser open till the software finds the download location of your flash files. Once it lists the URL of your game/animation/movie you can close the browser. Notice that this program also downloads other swf files such as banners/advertisement found under the same URL. If you can recognize such unnecessary files you can stop downloading them.

So, now that you know the trick to download flash files to your computer you can enjoy rich web content offline also. If you can’t run your downloaded flash game or animation read the article, ‘Running Flash (*.swf) Games or Animation on a Personal Computer.’

  1. Or you can just look at the page source and go to the swf file, then save the page.

  2. Gribonn, I don't think saving the page will download swf file. It will save the webpage. But, instead you may do this. Look at the source, find the link to real swf file then copy it in any download manager and start the download. But, one problem likely to occur is it's very hard to find the link in source... (they are much clever then we are.)
