[UPDATE] CyanMobile reVo A 20120521 Update For Samsung Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570

CyanMobile is one of the pure custom rom (not like other cooked roms) for Samsung Galaxy Mini or Pop GT-S5570 smartphone which combines sources and features from AOSP, AOKP and Cyanogen and is thus able to pack some good features within it. The developer today has come out with an update to his previous CyanMobile reVo A version. Cyanmobile reVo A 20120510 release comes with a new Ice Cream Sandwich theme which is well cooked to give you an awesome ICS experience and look. Along with the look, the developer has improved all the features that were introduced in previous release.

It is only after flashing this latest update of cyanmobile reVo A rom, I came to think of the previous release as a trailer of what big the developer was planning to make. After today's release most of the instability issues that were there with CyanMobile reVo A are gone, existing features are improved and some new features are introduced.

The navigation bar (soft buttons navigation) at the bottom just enhances the experience of using an smartphone. Similarly, the new fonts and lockscreen styles introduced will provide a much richer experience to all users. The various options provide can meet all the various tastes of different users. And, all these combined with the features inherited from previous versions and Cyanogenmod simply make this rom almost incompetent. My kudos to squadzone for such a beautiful artwork. You can take a closer look at this rom and it's look and features at these screenshots of cyanmobile update posted in this article.
CyanMobile ReVo A 20120510 Update

As one of the Principles of Economics states, "People Face Trade-Offs". [By the way, I'm reading a book, Principles of Economics, by N. Georgy Mankiw these days. He is a great economist and his book is one of the best book I've ever studied.] Here also, we face a similar trade-off between the availability of features and the stability of the rom. While the stability issues is not a major one, however, the battery seems to drain just a little faster which is negligible. Also, being equipped with new features this rom is highly experimental and you might notice a few glitches here or there, but that won't keep it from being usable for daily activities.

So, let's move ahead and upgrade your device with this latest update of CyanMobile series. Along with this update, there are two minor updates for quick bug fixes which you'll have to flash after flashing the major update. The steps below will guide you through the installation procedure of this rom.

Disclaimer : Do It At Your Own Risk!

Note : Those who have Gingerbread OS and any Custom Recovery installed on their device can skip Step 1 and Step 2. Also, those who have any custom rom installed can skip both Step 1 and 2.


2.Install any custom recovery available for Samsung Galaxy Mini/Pop. You may either have Clock Work Mod Recovery or RZ Recovery - any is fine.

3. Download CyanMobile reVo A and required updates from below :
4. Copy all the downloaded files to the (root directory of) your sd-card.

5. Reboot your device to Custom Recovery (Press Home + Power Button).

6. [Optional but, Recommended] Do a Nandroid Backup of your current rom.

7. Now flash all three files (in the order presented above) in recovery.
  • Choose Install Zip From Sd Card>>Choose Zip From SD Card option and then select the CyanMobile Update from above in the same order. Once you are done flashing the update, flash other fixes similarly.
  • Note : If you are using RZ Recovery, choose Install Menu>>Select any of the three zip files  you downloaded>>Select Wipe Data and Wipe Cache>>Choose *.zip and wait till the zip is installed. When done, flash other zips similarly.
8. When you've flashed all files, Wipe Data and Wipe cache from recovery menu.

9. Reboot your device from your recovery main menu.

  • update-CyanMobile-reVo-A-GalaxyMini-20120518-Release.zip : Thanks to squadzone for this update. This update is a full update which combines the updates given above as well as solves some of the bugs that are present in the above mentioned version of Cyanmobile revo A. Flash this in clockwork mod recovery with full data wipe and reboot your system as mentioned above.
    P.S. No need to flash above mentioned updates if you are switching from other roms
    That's all. You've successfully updated your Samsung Galaxy Mini/Pop/Next GT-S5570 with latest cyanmobile version. With this release frequent reboot and other errors that were present in previous version are gone. Also, if this is your first time using custom rom then, it will take you some time to get used to this but, once you are familiar with the rom no doubt you'll love it. So, take you time and explorer through all the new enhancements. When you are done looking around, share with us your views about this custom rom at the comments below.

      Just flash in the order they are listed. You'll need to flash the update-20120510-GalaxyMini-release first and then you may flash remaining two in any order.

      battery life is not that good but it's fine for all the features you get. Hindi and other unicodes are rendered properly. About other apps I'm not sure if they'll work on not. Incase you face force close, change the theme to system theme and it should run fine.

      Just a matter of taste: the startup: Indonesia Squadzone or whatever... I liked just 'Android' much more. I don't come from Indonesia. It's on the other side of this planet.

      You'll need to use CM7 google apps, otherwise it won't work. CM9 Or ICS gapps are only for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich based roms.

      Well, I can understand you view. But, you got to understand it too. The developer is not very frustrated with some user's behavior, he decided to make CyanMobile available for only Indonesian (whom, in his view, appreciate his work).

      He also doesn't want other to theme his rom and say that they developed a new rom. For all this reason, he did this as it's quite difficult to remove this very part simply by modding. It is justifiable, don't you think so?

      HII NICE ROM YARR. BUT THE SYSTEM ROM IS ONLY WORKING PROPERLY AND FAST BECAUSE THE OTHER THEAM IS USING MUCH BATTERY LIFE AND STRUCKING.       You'll need to wipe data and cache in recovery's main menu. Also, it takes some time at this screen so, you better be patient for few minutes.

      rom is good but the colour of my notification bar changes with the colour of app I open. for eg its colour will become white if I open filemanager and black Wynn I open market. how to avoid that I want to make colour permanent

      Did you read through the comments here and in the post where I posted screenshots of CyanMobile revo A. Important discussion are held in comments so, it's always advised to go through them before you ask questions.

      Anyway, to remove those buttons, just visit Cyanmobile Settings=>Table Tweaks and uncheck Navigation Bar option.

      Anyway I have a question, I have made everything according to this tutorial. When I turn my mobile on, I see the cyanogen mod logo for like two minutes and then the phone finally turns on. But the real problem is, that after entering my PIN I see barely black screen, nothing there - i can only drop down notification bar, see hours in top right corner and the three blue bars at the bottom. Any help?

      Ok, I am sorry, but in the end I found one mistake, that I cant figure out. I dont have in my phone google play (anroid market) after this update. Even though i tried to download an apk file from the internet, after installing and running it it asks me to enter some google account. When I press okay, the appliaction just close itself. Any ideas, please? Without Market it is rly bad. :(

      That normal to take some time during first boot. Also, your drawer and homescreen is being loaded. If you wait for while you should see everything clearly.

      Try flashing the rom again in latest clockwork mod recovery. Make sure you wipe data before flashing the rom.

      To disable the navigation bar, check out Tablet Tweaks settings and uncheck Navigation Bar there. Read through other comments here, it's discussed already. From next time I won't reply to queries that are already answered. You can also use search bar to find information quickly. Try this search keyword 'disable navigation bar in cyanmobile' in the search bar above and you'll get your answer.

      I am not able to configure dropbox on the latest cynamobile. Did you try? Anyone tried installing dropbox? When I try to launch dropbox, it always force closing.

      There is one major issue in this ROM. I took android backup and when I try to copy that backup to my laptop, it hanged. It was such worse condition that I have to restart my phone and laptop as well. It was always failing to copy sd-exe.img. Though with new updates ROM is much more stable, I think this one is major issue to be fixed. Moving back to mebitek.

      Hello Yayant,
      My dropbox was already installed in the previous version of cyanmobile. After the latest update (version 20120521) everything works fine. I dit NOT do a data wipe (something i should not reccommend), so i dit not have to reinstall all the apps again. Dropbox survived this action!

      Yagya, I can say that this ROM is great but when I flashed the google apps for GB in this rom, along with S2E. It works fine, but when I tried to download apps from the market, it results to an error code 492. also, there is problem when moving the app/data to sd-ext/data. applications that were force closed. Any solutions regards to that? Thank you.

      Come on guys! Just reinstall gapps from the following site: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip. (Flash it in CWM) After that give your google account in the play store and you're on again!!

      Its justifiable, though he has a wider range of people who appreciate his work than just Indonesian people... But what's less justifiable is that you now have to take an account on 4shared.com to download the zipfiles of this rom. And somehow i can't login from my phone on this side which makes the Lilg-updater just an indicator for an new version and not a downloader.

      Make sure you don't check Download cache in s2e settings while using Cyanmobile. It already contains the code to do so, thus, a conflict will occur and you might get errors.
      Also, about moving Application data, try to keep it in internal memory for a while. THis rom is highly experimental so such small issues are kept aside for now.

      Yes, restoring data might cause force close issues. You can use Titanium backup to restore apps only. But, within same rom, it should be fine to restore both too. Experiment and you'll learn more.

      I followed the steps provided above also wiped data and cache but then I face the same issue (using update-CyanMobile-reVo-A-GalaxyMini-20120521-Release.zip and Clock Work Mod Recovery) and re-installed GB as you said, does that mean my device is not suitable for this update or is anything that I've done wrong?

      First of all thanks a lot for giving proper guidance & package of upgradation .
      I [ Anil , rewari ( India ) have upgraded my galaxy pop from version 2.2.2frayo to 2.3.6 successfully today but notice no big differences.Plz. Tell me How it is better than ftayo & suggest me how this version 2.3.6 can be made better by updating / rooting / downloading apps for it.

      Thanx Yagya! for this awsm Cyanmobile reVo A ROM!!! It works absolutely fine..... the only issue I found that there is a bit problem in honeycomb beta lock style. The same problem prevailed in Cyanogenmod too.... Hope you would solve this issue and would make this a perfect one... : ) Stay Blessed with more achievements!

      Your download is corrupted. Check to make sure it's around 103 MB or not. If not try downloading again.

      Yes, that might be the cause. Install CWM recovery v4.0.0.5 and try to flash the rom again. You can upgrade you clockwork mod once you flash the rom successfully.

      there is no option for "Navigation Buttons"... options with navigation header are
      navigation bar
      navigation size
      navigation background

      Yes, darktremor did an awesome job. However, s2e is also a similar app and works great. In fact it is much simpler than darktremor to use, so, why don't you give it a try. You can search here for more details.

      Battery life seems ok to me. I did not notice any diffrence with previous roms. So far no bugs or unexpected restarts for were detected by me.

      Yagya, I flashed the ROM with the google apps, the market/play store icon in the app drawer is missing. I tried to reboot my phone but still, I get the same results. On the other hand, the S2EXT is now functioning well, I don't encounter any errors since I moved it to sd-ext/app. Great work!

      Unrooting a custom roms means your device is unstable... A custom rom without root access is not a custom rom anymore. So, you wouldn't want to do so.

      But, if you want to unroot, just flash unroot gingerbread zip found here in recovery. Do it at your own risk!

      Hey yaga thanks for this rom bt in music playback its glich sound in evry 5 to 10 minutes. Nd other problem is when we shoot video nd change the orientation its shoot well bt when we wach video .... portrait video is ok bt landscape video get wrong orintation.... pls help m ....nd reply as soon as posible....because before I use cyangenmod 7.2 rc 5.5 nd that is much stable than this...

      For those who need google play on their phone.... just install gaps in clockwork recovery mod.... no need to wipe cache nd data.... for latest gaps go to cyangemod official website.....

      Thanks Yagya for a great new rom. With spb 3d launcher with all windows enabled I found my phone to be unstable, consuming to much memory I suppose. Without all windows (panels) enabled it runs fine. The screens touch responsiveness seems a little slow and the gallery is also slow but apart from that it's a great rom. As for battery I can't really comment except to say Samsung's battery is poor from the start. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

      Yagya I tried to flash this rom using custom recovery of gingerbread 2.3.6 but the phone stuck on developer logo, so is it necessary to flash the custom recovery in order to flash this rom..

      I have another question if I flash

      update-CyanMobile-reVo-A-GalaxyMini-20120521-Release.zip (Latest version) then
      is there need to flash the two updates 1. for camera and 2. for boot animation

      For that you'll need to enable lockscreen in CyanogenMod settings and select one style. By default the lockscreen is on, so you can simply flash the rom again with full data wipe in recovery.

      in the latest update 20120521 there is no g applications but ur saying no need to flash any other zip file and i dnt find any changes in these roms which come under the name cyano mobile revo . all are same but the change i find is just ur changing the theam other than the system and the changed theam will never work fine

      Your zip seems to be corrupted... Which rom are you trying to flash? Just download this rom and follow the instructions here http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html to revive your device back again. Make sure you charge your device well, before flashing the rom. And, don't panic a bit an do something worse. Until you can go to download mode, you device can be revived. :)

      Hi! I just want to say that this rom is simply one of the most unstable and with worst battery life ever! Its "nice" to have so many useless options which i dont even need, and squad is just a guy who is deep up his own arse, ignorant prick. He cant stand that people dont like hes rom, thats why he left xda :)

      Hello yagya.... I found bugs like
      1) Once status bar hides (eg. Playing games) doesn't come back
      2) Black area at bottom in settings ( fixed after reboot)
      3) Navigation button isn't transparent (tried in settings many times)
      Plz post if anyone has solutions.
      ** Hope that next update will give us perfect rom. This ROM worth flashing, go ahead**
