Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Pop/Mini GTS5570 to Gingerbread 2.3.4

UPDATE!!! 07 December Official Gingerbread Rom 2.3.6 (DDKQ7) for Indian Galaxy Pop Users is available for download. Follow this link to flash it on your device.

Samsung galaxy pop/mini gts5570 is an awesome Smartphone that ships with stock android 2.2.1 (Froyo) operating system. But, if you want your Samsung device to run on android 2.3.4 then there is good news for you. Gingerbread 2.3.4 is out for Samsung galaxy pop/mini but it will take much time for Samsung to make it available to all the galaxy pop/mini users over different regions.

So you will have to manually upgrade to a European version firmware using Odin (software used to flash custom firmwares/roms in Samsung devices). But, since this upgrade works on all international version of galaxy pop/mini you will be safe until you stay close to the information given in this article. This upgrade of Samsung galaxy pop/mini to gingerbread 2.3.4 also works for Indian as well as other Asian region handsets. Also remember that flashing will delete all your apps and data in the internal storage so it it recommended to backup your applications and data with the help of Titanium Backup, App Monster or other similar application before doing such activities in your device.

To begin the process let’s start with downloading all the necessary files to your personal computer. Download the files from links given below:
  1. Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 for GTS5570
  2. Tass.ops  [Password : yagyagaire ]
  3. Gingerbread 2.3.4 Rom (European version, S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK.rar)(Password to extract is sampro.pl)
  4. OR Gingerbread 2.3.4 Rom (Asian Region, S5570ZSKPB_S5570OZSKPB_S5570XXKPL.rar)
Now perform the steps below to successfully upgrade your galaxy pop/mini gts5570 to gingerbread 2.3.4.
  • Charge your phone and personal computer to full charge (at least above 60%-70%) to avoid any issues during upgrade. (Note: If you don’t upgrade properly you might even brick your phone.)
  • Run S5570_Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 application on your PC.
  •  Click OPS button and select Tass_v1.ops file downloaded earlier.
  •  Select/Tick One Package Option (Don’t Check/Uncheck others, leave them as they are.)
  •  Click One Package button and select the S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK_HOME.tar file you extracted earlier from your download (see image below).
Flashing latest gingerbread 2.3.4 on galalxy pop/mini gts5570
  •  Power off your phone and boot it in Download Mode (Press Home + Volume Down + Power Button).
  • If you see a yellow triangle icon with Downloading written inside it connect it to your pc via USB.
  • If odin detects your phone it will show COM Port # (Port Number) written in yellow background on its window (see image below).
Odin Multidownloader galaxy pop/mini gts5570 upgrade to gingerbread
  • If everything above went well click Start Button to proceed then wait till it finishes (approx. 5.30 minutes) and reboots your phone.
  • When Odin says PASS close the application and disconnect your phone.
Since this is European version you might have some difficulties at beginning as the language is not set to English. Follow the settings icons (they are similar to your previous rom) and go to Select Language Setting (Settings>Locale and Text>Select Language) and scroll down until you see English. Tap it to select and use as default language. Congratulations! You now have a smart phone running gingerbread 2.3.4 OS.

If you want to root your newly upgraded Samsung galaxy mini/pop then go through this article.

UPDATED!!! September 21, 2011
I have added the link to download Asian region gingerbread 2.3.4 rom and is probably the latest firmware update for galaxy pop gts5570. So, users from Asia are recommended to flash this rom.

  1. Dear Yagya, thanks a lot for detailed information on so many issues. This is the first time I came across your blog and I am very happy and proud that someone from Nepal is doing such a great job. Yagya, keep it going. Best wishes!

    ReplyDelete
  2. @Om Shrestha: Thank you and welcome as well!!! So, do you also have a samsung galaxy pop phone and are you also from Nepal?(Just asking for curiosity) Anyway, were you successful in upgrading to gingerbread ?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hi Yagya! Yes I do have a samsung galaxy pop and I like this phone very much. I even made my close friends get this phone. I read your article on upgrading to gingerbread, but frankly I am still not confident enough to do that manually on my own. I would rather wait some more time for Samsung to provide it officially. If it does not happen in a couple of months, then I will try it your way. By the way, I am from Kathmandu and visit Bharatpur every now and then. I am interested to meet you personally when I come to Bharatpur if I get your address or phone number. Hope to see you soon...

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's up to you whether you upgrade to gingerbread or not. But, its a good idea to wait for official gingerbread. I'm also waiting to flash the orginal one cause there are some minor problems with this european version. Hope Samsung will provide it officially soon. If you want you can add me in facebook. I also hope we will get to meet some day...By the way I live near SOS, Bharatpur-8.

  5. yagya, Did you tested well. I am also having pop also not having confident to flash. Can you help me out here.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yes, Its well tested... don't worry you probably will do fine if you stick with the instructions above ... Also you can flash asian region rom, i will update the link today...

  7. Hi Yagya is this update workiing on phone froyo.dxkg2?

By the way i already download that rom for asia, but it got password to extract..

    Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Not so sure about that, I tested in my galaxy pop and its build was Froyo.DDKC1 .
But, it will probably work and if doesn't you can revert to froyo anytime by flashing froyo rom from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-s5570.htm .

    Password to extract is samfirmware.com

  9. Update News to Yagya/Other

  10. yagya,
    I am from india(Tamilnadu),
I have two more doubt or questions before flashing my mobile.
    1. I need to unroot my mobile back (revert), because i already rooted my mobile or I leave as it is?
2.I need to take backup my files, setting..etc before flashing? Or How i revert back if something went wrong?
    Please answer my two doubts...

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Nachi no need to unroot your phone , just flash it the way it is now.
Yes, you will need to backup your apps, contacts, and any other data that you want to save because flashing will completely remove everything you have in your internal storage. Also it is better to remove sd card and sim before flashing (not compulsory though but for more safety).

  12. wow, thanks dude for keeping us posted on the galaxy mini!

  15. @Yagya,

Thanks. But which application i need to use for backup my android.

"What are measures or things do to when flashing goes wrong"

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Nachi You can use titanium backup (recommended), app monster or app control to backup your apps and data. There are many in market search for them. Also best idea is to make sure nothing goes wrong while flashing but if you did something wrong and you can't access even the boot loader or recovery you will have to give it to a repair shop. But if you can access either bootloader or recovery and can go to download mode you can try flashing the rom again.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @yagya,
    Oh my god.
Is this happen ha "Not able to access bootloader or recovery".
Can you make video tutorial and upload it in youtube because i have less confident to try because i purchased 2 month later.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Nachi You are probably very much worried about it. Don't worry charge your phone well, remove simcard and sdcard (for more precaution) and then just follow the above steps carefully. Don't worry too much many users have done it and i've personally tested it on my pop that had indian droyo S5570DDKC1 rom.
Also if anything went wrong you can give it to samsung service center for repair (and if you are lucky they won't even charge you since you have warranty.)or repair it in any shop by paying small fee. Just be careful not to interrupt the process and wait patiently (6-7 minutes after you've started the flash process) before doing anything (like moving it or playing with it) else with your phone.

  19. @yagya, tomorrow i will flashing my rom.

  20. All the best!!! Good Luck with it...

  21. @Yagya,
Thanks for your wishes, final one doubt on it, i have extracted .rar file but it showing .tar.md5 is this the file i want to load in one package field. But you told tar file but i having .tar.md5.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Yagya, I have flashed sucessfully.
All application installed in phone previously are remains same in this version also.
I want to wipe data/cache or i will continue with that application ha?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Nachi
Yes it is the file that you load in One Package field... Also it is good if you wipe the data but if the phone is running smoothly and you are not having any problem then it is not compulsory ...

Also Congratulations on successful upgrade to gingerbread.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Yagya,
    Great support.
Please explain deeper about the Wipe data/Cache and one more explain me the custom recover option?

    ReplyDelete
  25. can i just copy all the files to my system and replace them after upgrading???

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't think you might want to do that because /system/app contains only the system application and thus previous app (which you probably copied from froyo) might not be compatible with the new os and if you replace older one (& if it worked by chance) what would be the use of upgrading if you replace all files from froyo.....

However, you can try to do but remember neither me or this site can be held responsible if anything wrong happens with your device (though i think it can be solved by flashing rom again but its better to stay away from system/app unless you are a developer and are expert in such matters)

  27. yagya im in india having a pop and im running froyo.ddka7. does this upgrade work for my fone also

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ noor: yes it works for all international GSM version of galaxy pop phones .. It works for your too.
@ sarthak yes it is safe to upgrade with latest version ( i recommend you use asian version of rom)... As you can see Many users have done and there completely no harm if you follow the instructions and do it the right way .

  30. @Yagya,

  31. HI I am from Bangladesh, I updated my s5570(region - asia ddkc1) with gingerbread 2.3.4 few days ago and it works fine, no issue. In few moments I will flash with CyanogenMod 7.1.0.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ Kumar you are welcome ... Good luck with cm7 rom.
    @Masud All the best!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi I am from Ktm, Nepal. Right now I am using Android 2.2.1 Froyo S5570DDKC1. I think I will try the Asian version tomorrow, still am a little scared. No issues with the new version so far right? since you also personally did it yourself for DDKC1...
I hope nothing goes wrong when I try it...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Also one more question, may sound a little stupid (am very new to android) but still, how do I backup all my contacts so I can recover them after upgrading. I am using an unrooted phone so I cant use Titanium Backup. I know I can copy them to my simcard, but i have more contacts than the limit and also simcard saves each number separately even for same contact, so just asking is there any other better method?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Pra, Nothing go go wrong just follow the steps and precautions from above... You can sync the contacts via Samsung Kies to your pc and latter sync back them back to your phone.... Also You can use third party software like Android Wifi Manager from mobile-action or Mobile GO....

    ALl the best with upgrading!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ok one more question, do I need a working connection to do this or after I have downloaded all the files mentioned here, I can do it offline?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Pra,
Another easy method is their taking backup of contact..
Go to contact--> press left buttomn--> then select import/export then it has more option, select options as per your requirement after that all your contact (vcard format) in your sd card. You can later import using same steps.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Pra, you don't need any working connection... Once you download all the files you can do it offline....

  39. hello,

  40. Do i need to have Kies on my PC????

    ReplyDelete
  41. i have got all the necessary files downloaded right on my PC,just need to know if kies are a must??

i need to back up my apps ahead of flash???

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hello Mutz, You can download a froyo rom from samfirmware.com and flash it. But, that won't be necessary cause if you do the right way you will have and upgraded galaxy pop.
KIes is not necessary but you must install teh drivers so that your computer can recognize your device. The easy way to do this is install Kies (that automatically install required drivers for you).
Yes, you need to backup all your apps ahead of the flash cause it will delete all your data and apps including contacts, and other that are on internal memory. But it won't affect your files in sd-card. You can backup your contact within from phone (using export option, this is recommended) or from Kies...
Good Luck and Have a safe flashing!!!

  49. Couple of questions wondering if mini users experience this as well:
    1) When charging, and i press a button on mini takes a while to wake up and show the battery icon. Is this normal
    2) Is there a way to undim the screen when its charging
    3) Sometimes when i plug in the charger it does nothing but light the screen, forcing me to take out the battery and restart

    ReplyDelete
  50. when you charge while your phone is switched off, it is normal to show battery icon...
I don't think you can undim while charging and again dim when it is unplugged like you can in your laptop. But, with the help of third-party app it might be possible to do so, search market or google for them. (never needed one, so don't know much)
Are you talking of the white blank screen. My phone also shows me that rarely (but not necessarily while charging) and it returns to normal after few seconds (or minutes).

    ReplyDelete
  51. "when you charge while your phone is switched off, it is normal to show battery icon... " what i meant was there was a like 3 second lag before the phone would show the battery icon.
Umm not the white screen. Its when the phoesn off and i plug in my charger to charge the phone. Sometimes it jsut freezes and doesnt charge

    ReplyDelete
  52. yes there is some seconds lag before it shows the battery icon.. it is normal, don't worry about that.
Don't know about the later one... I rarely charge my phone while its off (it works fine at that time). But, sometimes gts5570 freezes (while its on) and shuts down.. ( i have had this 3 times since last few months)

First I want to say Thnx for your guidance in upgrading Gingerbread update for samsung galaxy pop.

I upgraded successfully my samsung galaxy pop from FROYO 2.2.1 to GINGERBREAD 2.3.4. I confirmed it by checking version in About my phone option.
But after upgradation I noticed that my old softwares, SMSs, contacts are intact. As you said this update will format the phone. But in my case nothing happened.
Have I successfully upgraded my phone??

One more thing I want to ask you is (Is this chinese update of samsung galaxy pop??)
I noticed that in Keyboard settings there are Chinese keyboards.
I really scared after viewing Chinese keyboards in my phone as Chinese softwares or operating systemss are always bundled with viruses & malwares.

Once again thnx & waiting for your answers.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Please confirm by checking About Phone Settings to see 2.3.4 in Android Version and S5570XXKPK or S5570ZSKPB (depending upon which rom you flashed)in Baseband Version, If so, you have upgraded to gingerbread successfully.
Also the contacts might be on your sdcard or google might have synced them back after you setup you google account on your device. (Also, you might feel some changes, that will make sure you have latest gingerbead).
And don't worry this rom is for China and it might be possible it has Chinese fonts on keyboard, but it doesn't have malwares and viruses. So, no problem. Change your language to English if you are having problem to view and type in english.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @ yagya:
This is awesome!!!u have done a great job here, one of the best blogs that actually helped.

After lot of research i have successfully flashed to gingerbread with the device drivers being detected automatically(though i had to wait until ODIN detected my phone and COM port #)
Thanks once again, and keep up the Good work, next step will be ROM Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0

though i have gmail synced contacts and backed up my apps,a lot of change, confirmed my build, says GINGERBREAD!!!! awesome...

    ReplyDelete
  61. @Anonymous You can try flashing any rom, both work great... Asian is recommended for you though.
I guess you will have to reinstall kies with the phone connected to your pc for it to detect your phone...

@mutz No, kies isn't required. what we need are the drivers for our device so that our computer (Odin) detects it when we connect it to PC.
    Anyway, Thank You!!! and Congratulation.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Still doesnt work Yagya, I give up is there any way of getting Cynogen Mod directly from 2.2.2

    ReplyDelete
  63. I was also having same problem righ now... The thing is you will have to wipe data and cache...
If you are still at boot loop, take out your battery and put it back in (or by any method go to recovery). Now press HOme + Power button to go to recovery... There Wipe data and cache and reboot. Wait till its reboots( abpout 4-10 minutes)... It will work for sure, try it once...

    ReplyDelete
  67. I followed all the instuctions but all i get is the yellow triangle with downloading and the phone is connected to the pc with usb...

    ReplyDelete
  68. You have soft bricked your phone. This might shows that this method doesn't work with your phone or you did it the wrong way. If you did it the right way as stated above, then i suggest you take it to a repair shop and have them mend it.(you can even ask them for gingerbread). Else try it again.

Make sure nothing goes wrong while flashing, like Odin shut down before finishing, phone shutting down, etc. Try flashing it once again and follow the instructions well. DOn't touch your phone until it says PASS in Odin.

    1. reboot ur phone
    2. apply update.zip from sdcard
    3.Wipe data/factory reset
    4.Wipe Cache partition

instead of the downloading screen plz help me Should i click on update.zip
n i tried searching the”update.zip” file on my sdcard but dint got it so was not able to delete it :(

    ReplyDelete
  71. Akash, I think you are mistaking recovery mode for download mode. It's to be noted that they are different. TO get to the downloading screen, shut down your phone and then press Volume Down + Home + Power Buttons at the same time.
And no need to click on update.zip, neither you ought to delete it.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hello Yagya, I have a slight problem I'm hoping you can help me fix. I recently completed the steps above and upgraded from 2.2 to gingerbread. Everything loaded up perfect but whenever I try to access the internet or gmail, it says no internet connection. I can call and text message and I have selected Vodafone(ireland) as my network. I've read something about the baseband not being compatible..any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Greetings, Luigi! Make sure you check Data Enabled Option and select an APN configuration provided by your operator on APN Names list on Mobile Internet Settings in Settings>Wireless & network settings. Also, make sure to uncheck use only 2G networks... Is your device connecting over wifi?? If you are still unable take help from your operator cause you device might not have needed settings to connect over mobile data.

  84. Pranav I bet your warranty will only cover damages within a year time interval.... and you have probably used it for more than few months. SO, just chill and enjoy the gingerbread.... Your warranty would have gone by the end of one year from the date of purchase.

@toban You can use overclocking kernels to run your cpu in max speed. Also, try using MAsterCPU app from the market, it will surely help you...

Unpac and install the drivers and then try again.

  90. @Yagya I had the same problem as GwadaTradeBoy in my pc then after starting odin it took almost 15mins but nothing happened so i restarted the process from the start. But the same thing happened numerous times so i disconnected my phone from my pc. the screen was only showing downloading and nothing was working so i removed my battery and tried to restart it again but it has stopped on the screen showing a picture of pc and phone connection not available. pls help me wat shoul i do now!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. You have probably soft bricked your phone... But, don't worry you can solve it by falshing any firmware using Odin. Download Samsung Drivers from http://hotfile.com/dl/109276666/f22355e/SAMSUNG_USB.rar.html and install it on your pc. Now setup Odin as explained above and then put your phone in download mode (if it doesn't go to download mode, then connect it as it is -- with the phone and pc icon). Once Odin shows connected (COM # in yellow background at the top) click start and wait till it completely finishes (about 5-10 minutes); if everything went successfully you will unbrick your galaxy pop.

    Hello,
I was able to by-pass the problem by launching the upgrade on a machine turning under Windows XP; I think that the management of the right under Windows 7 raises problem.

  93. @yagya thx, now ive finish flashing to gingerbread xD thx so much, now let's all wait for ICE CREAM SANDWICH :D....i wont probably need samsung kies anyways the updates are so slow there..thx YAGYA!

  95. Anonymous, Please find another pc for doing it, maybe your friend or relatives can help --I think there is some error with your pc (I can't really figure out, since it never happened to me and I can't get my hands on your pc or mobile.)-- And, follow the steps again properly. Don't forget to install drivers before starting.

  102. Hi, I did as you said above, after it said PASS, I closed the Odin and disconnected the phone, but my phone is not turning on or not going to download mode. any Idea? ??

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous, It works fine with Indian Galaxy Pop, I tested in the one that had Indian Froyo Firmware and it works fine. Also, you can switch back to froyo at anytime. Just download froyo firmware from samfirmware.com and flash it as above.

Also, For those whose phone is not turning on --you are stuck in a boot loop-- you try this:
Take out your battery and put it back in (or by any method go to recovery). Now press HOme + Power button to go to recovery... There Wipe data and cache and reboot. Wait till its reboots( abpout 4-10 minutes)...
If you phone is not turning on --black screen-- you bricked your phone and you should give it to samsung service center for repair. ANd for those who get phone connecting to pc sign, go to download mode and flash firmware again as above.

    ReplyDelete
  104. But when it installed correctly, why it is not turning on?? Odin says PASS, I tried to install Asian version.
can you tell me what is the difference between Asian and Europe version??

    ReplyDelete
  105. SInce both Asian and European version are gingerbread 2.3.4 there is not much diffrence on the outer appearence/ UI. Some core features including language, radio signal, etc (I don't know much since I am not a specialist) are different. If you are having problem with one you can try another...

  111. Thanx bro i upgrade my galaxy mini today. but what about the language? my phone showing me in chinese language

    ReplyDelete
  112. I don't know whether it works on Galaxy POP I559 (CDMA version of S5570), but it sure works on GSM version.
If it worked for you please inform us!!!!

Also, no need to have a rooted phone to do this.

Rowell, I think you don't have the drivers installed. Please install Samsung Drivers from above and try again. Also, can you explain your error code --what does it says exactly?

For the language just follow the icons --hope you recognize what icon means what from froyo-- Go to settings (Gear like icon)>> Locale and text (Some text on white button)>> and select the language English (after scrolling you will see English word)

  117. Yes, if your phone is carrier unlocked ( sim unlocked) then you can upgrade it with this method. If you want you can even flash CM7 on your device. It is really a nice rom.

    ReplyDelete

  121. hello there, i have upgraded my froyo ti gingerbread, but on the baseband version its written S5570DXKPD. Did i do something wrong? because its different from the baseband that you wrote. thx

    ReplyDelete
  122. Indra, If you have used the above methods you ought to get the same as above. I think either you upgraded via Kies or still have Froyo. The baseband you wrote suggest you are from either of these Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam countries and your firmware is released on August. So, you must be having latest firmware of your region --but, I can't tell whether it is GB or Froyo.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Yes Yagya i am from Indonesia. There is nothing wrong bout my phone, the os has changed to gingerbread, but im curious why the baseband is not the same. Thx for your info, i will try it again from the top.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Hi Yagya,

    does it work withversion: s5570xxka5?

    thanks

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yes, it works. Infact the European Version mentioned above is the official gingerbread version of your firmware. I see you are (or maybe your phone) from Europe.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Yap, im from Europe.

Ive downloaded the "S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK.rar", but i couldnt find the file "S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK_HOME.tar", there are 4 different files on the rar, but non of them is the :"S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK_HOME.tar".

    Can you help me?

    thanks a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  130. Just extract the .rar file and you will get the .tar file. If you further open the tar file then you will get the nine (not four) files. you can verify the extension of the file by visitng the properties of the files. Or, if you get S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK_HOME file, it is the tar file we are taking about.

Also, please use your name as I suggested above while commenting. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  134. neel, you should fist subscribe to use internet from your network provider (in your case its docomo, I guess) and they will send you settings to your mobile --if they don't you will have to manually create and APN(access point) in the APN list. You can ask for APN name and port to the network providers, if you don't know already, and then save the APN. And finally, make sure you have checked use Mobile Data (or similar) on Wireless and Network Settings.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Nabil, If it is sucessfully upgraded then it's not a problem. I'm wondering how all your apps are still there, they should have gone. Anyway, are your apps (the one that you've installed by yourself) still there? Contacts couls have been there if they were stored on simcard or sd-card. Just, check Android version once at ABout Settings. If you have 2.3.4 its ok.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Ronak, IT will upgrade your smartphones firmware just like you upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. So, basically after upgrading to Gingerbread you will get better security, performace and more battery life. It doesn't have much chage in UI.

And yes you will be able to use those apps that were made for Gingerbead too. Please read through the comments and the article so that you will know more on this issue. I'm sure you will learn a lot from comments here. --THey are also like FAQs so go ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Suraj, you can try to wipe data and cache (from recovery) to solve your problem. But, be careful, it will delete all your data and apps, so a backup (using Titanium or any other tool) is a must. If you still face problem, write back. I will post the camera app. Or, you can reflash GB if possible.

    then wat 2 do?

    ReplyDelete
  166. SAM, why do you want to go back to Froyo? Anyway, to go back just flash Froyo Firmware for your region. If you are from India I have a link to Froyo posted just few comments ahead.

Also, It is better you flash this http://hotfile.com/dl/111663255/c02ba50/S5570XWKC1.rar.html before flashing the firmware for your region. This is very much recommended for safe downgrade to Froyo from Gingerbread.

    & how 2 downgrade...??

    ReplyDelete
  168. SAM, Download that file and flash it using Odin one package oprion. THen download S5570DDKC1 (for Indian Froyo) and again flash it using Odin same procedure as above just the firmware will be diffrent.. You will have Froyo on your device at the end of this hassle. As always, Disclaimer -Do it at your own risk- applies.

    any solution?

    ReplyDelete
  175. also there is a new option in setting->software update.
    should i update there?

    ReplyDelete
  176. SAM, don't know how to solve your contacts problem.. there might be an option somewhere to show the name. I don't have GB so can't check it out. Try by youself for any luck...

No, need to update from there. It does the same thing that you did manually or the Kies does. Software update option check for new updates and install them --you need to be on a good wifi connection for that. It is not needed for you since you use latest software/firmware.

I recommend that you flash any custom rom. They are better than stock roms and may have the contact problem solved. Read this:

    ReplyDelete
  181. plz can anyone tell me how to root the phone after upgraded to 2.3.4 ?

    ReplyDelete
  182. SAM, yes, the default language is set to Chinese but you can change it just by following easily recognizable icons (Gear, Locale (A inside white box) icon, and select first option and scroll till you see English). Yes, you can upgrade to 2.3.7. But, you need to know this is not a official Samsung update and you won't be able to use Kies after upgrading. Also, you are solely responsible for what happens to your device.

The Game is not working because you need another one that is made/developed for Gingerbread. Here is the link for Need For Speed Shift for Gingerbread:

    ReplyDelete
  184. Hemanth, Please read above article carefully.. IT has the link to article that will help you root your phone. It's at the end of article.

And, also so downgrade (change back to Froyo 2.2) you simply flash froyo rom for your region. You can download original Froyo Firmwares from sammobile.com. Also, if you are from india, I've posted the links few comments above, read through them. Also, downgrade at your own risk as some have reported that they bricked their phone while doing so, though there are some they succeeded too.

    ReplyDelete
  185. thankyou sir
but noneed of froyo since my problem is cleared (contacts issue cleared when resets)
but only thing is how to root phone after 2.3.4 ?

    ReplyDelete
  186. Ronak, Disable/Close Kies if it is not detected by Odin. You should always close Samsung Kies during Flashing Firmware..

    ReplyDelete
  187. Hemanth, Read this to root Gingerbread 2.3.4:

    thanx a lot :)

    ReplyDelete
  189. Shri, You have soft bricked your phone. But, don't worry flashing a new Firmware should do the trick. Here's the deal:
Power of your battery (long press power button or pull the battery)
Go to Download Mode (If you are unable to get to download mode, pull the battery out, press three button combo to go to download mode, then while pressing the buttons put the battery in, release the buttons once you go to download mode.)
Set up Odin carefully (I think this is where you did wrong. Follow steps from above properly.)
Once setuped connect your phone to PC via USB (You will see COM 5 or similar text if Odin detects your phone.)
If it detects your phone and everything is ready press Start button.
Wait min. 5 minutes, till Odin says PASS in big words.
Pull out your phone only after Odin says PASS.
You phone should boot up nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Shri, Wiping Data in Recovery (Home + Power button) might solve your problem. If it doesn't I suggest you copy phone numbers to cell phone... Or maybe flashing a custom rom can solve the problem. Also, if you have time you can read the comments here, may have got solution to different queries that you might just feel like asking.

  192. @naveen, yes you can upgrade to cyanogen mod and that to right away. No, most bugs have been fixed and wifi, radio and gps are all working in cyanogen mod. But, some versions/revisions of cyanogenmod have bugs. If you want bug free try CM7* 01102011.zip (CM7 released on October 01). It is the one that I found most stable among other Cyanogen mod releases.

  195. Hey yagya,i recently bought a SGM and m a new one to these anroid flashing:).
    My phone version is:
    PDA-S5570BUKD2
    PHONE:S5570XXKB1
    CSC:S5570VDRKD2

Still have a hesitation to upgrade Froyo to Gb.because i read an article on another web which says following...
    { Provider - S5570 Firmwares

    Firmware / TASS.OPS / Android Version 2.2.1

    *S5570BUKB1 ## [2011 February 5] CSC_EXT-VDFKA5
    *S5570BUKB3 ## [2011 February 24] CSC_EXT-VDPKA5
    *S5570BGKC3 ## [2011 March] CSC = XECKC2 }

So i suppose my SGM belongs to this provider firmware(not under Asia firmware).WILL I BE ABLE TO UPGRADE SUCCESSFULY UNDER ASIA F/W UPGRADE AS MENTIONED ABOVE.
