Flashing Cyanogen Mod 9 Beta 4 For Galaxy Mini/Pop/Next GT-S5570

It has been a long time since I have updated you with anything. Sorry, for that. I really couldn't do anything since I was quite busy with some of my own tasks as well as something special for you (my readers) all too. But, now I am almost done with both of them and so the chances are you will hear quite frequently from now on. So, today I am out with a big news for Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 users. Yes, as the title suggests, CyanogenMod 9 Beta 4 for galaxy mini/pop/next gt-s5570 smartphone is out and now you get real taste of Ice Cream Sandwich. This time squadzone has teamed up with a bunch of other developers from GalaxyICS team, who claim to be working on real ICS development for Galaxy series of Samsung Android smart phones.

And, astonishingly this team has already managed to build almost fully working ICS based CM9 for Galaxy Ace & Galaxy Gio device. The build released for these device has most of the things working fine along with camera; however the current build for galaxy mini still comes with the camera bug. The head of the team, Maclaw informed that it will take some time to make the camera working since he doesn't has a galaxy mini smartphone. I am sure you all can wait for some time.

Meanwhile, he released Cyanogen Mod 9 Beta 4 so that all users can try it while the team can work to make camera working. And, belive me this latest Beta 4 is awesome and stands at the top of all others releases. So, let's flash this on your galaxy mini/pop and give it a try. But, before that I recommend that you view these screenshots of Cyanogen Mod 9 Beta 4 rom as well as watch this video if you want to get a better insight of this custom rom. Also, I've listed the changelog below so that, you can go through it before flashing the rom.

CM9 Beta 4 For GT-S5570

  • Deep sleep working - increased battery life.
  • Wifi indicator fixed.

  • Reduced flicker, but still exists.
  • Smooth and better performance.

  • Updated to latest CM9 sources.
How to Flash CM9 on Galaxy Mini? It's simple just follow the instructions below.

Disclaimer : Do It At Your Own Risk!

Note : Those who have Gingerbread OS and any Custom Recovery installed on their device can skip Step 1 and Step 2. You can also skip these steps if you have any other custom rom installed on your device.

3. Download CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0-GT-S5830-GalaxyICS-KANG-beta4 (cm_tass-beta4.zip) from the site of GalaxyICS team.

4. Copy the downloaded file to the (root directory of) your sd-card.

5. Reboot your device to Custom Recovery (Press Home + Power Button).

6. [Optional but, Recommended] Do a Nandroid Backup of your current rom.

7. Choose Install Zip From Sd Card>>Choose Zip From SD Card option and then select the file (named:  cm_tass-beta4.zip ) you downloaded from above.

Note : If you are using RZ Recovery, choose Install Menu>>Select  cm_tass-beta4.zip you downloaded>>Select Wipe Data and Wipe Cache>>Choose Install  cm_tass-beta4.zip and wait till the rom is flashed.

8. Wait till the rom is flashed/installed on your device. Once done, Wipe Data and Wipe cache from recovery menu.

9. Reboot your device from your recovery main menu.

After you reboot your device, be patient and wait for few minutes since it will take some time during first boot. Once it successfully boots to the home-screen you can start enjoying latest CyanogenMod 9 Beta 4 custom rom on your Samsung Galaxy Pop/Mini GT-S5570.

This rom has many improved features and the music app has a lot of changes. Go through it's settings and explorer for a while. The sound is quite good and my phone is still at 70% charge since yesterday when I last charged my phone, so one can say battery is also quite good. And, there are many other things to explorer and test in the Settings too. Go through all of these and once you are done with enough exploration don't forget to share your excitement with us at the comments below.

Also, if you want to find out more about this rom Or, just want to say thanks or donate some amount to the developer then please do so at this development thread on xda-developers forums. Have a nice time, licking the latest Ice Cream Sandwich based CM9 :D.

  2. Extremely slow and laggy UI which is my biggest concern. Many small issues which I think are getting addressed. Not able to recognize the sd-ext partition. S2E shows blank in front of EXT label. Network signal does not show correct status. Lot of flickering while changing date or time. I don't see any improvement in any of the areas.
I think this version of CM needs lot of work. I would like to wait for release candidate for CM 9.0.

  5. s2e and a2sd don't work with this rom yet. The developer will need to update their mod to support latest Android 4.0.3 software. For smooth UI try setting Windows Animations and Transitions Animation to Off in Development settings. That should help a lot.

And, yes, it's your choice you can always wait for CM9 RC1

  11. Yes, you lose all your configuration. However, if you are worried about it then wait for next release when it will be more refined. It still isn't that awesome in performance.

  17.  The download from galaxyics will expire within 1 hours so make sure your download is complete within that time. You can also use download manager such as Internet Download manager to make it work.

  26. Hi,

I've flashed this cutom rom in my galaxy mini (after making a backup of the original system, android 2.3.6 by Samsung). It is working fine (except issues already commented). When I restore my backup the smartphone hangs up in the screen that shows model (Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570).

Is there anything I'm missing while restoring?. Anybody could help me, please?

    Thanks,
    Nali

  27. I couldn't get what you mean when you said making a backup of original system. How did you do it? CWM recovery doesn't support backup and restore of stock firmwares.

You can solve the problem by flashing a new firmware using Odin, If you don't want to do flashing then try wiping data and cache in recovery which should fix the problem.

  28. Wait for CM9 Beta 5... There's nothing we can do at the moment.

i have just flashed the rom , the camera is NOT working

  30. Hi,
Once flashed recovery I made a backup of system currently installer in the phone. Do you mean that this backup is not recoverable?

I've already tried wiping data and cache and formating system but with this backup phone does not boot.

I'm going to look for a new rom to flash.

    Thanks,
    Nali

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, if your backup is of stock rom then it probably is not recoverable. However, if you were using any custom rom then the backup will surely work at a later time too.

And, yes, just flash a new firmware and you should be back to your original system (GB).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes, that's expected one. Wait for Beta 5 or more stable release.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Done.

I flashed a official fop rom and Iwas be able to recover my old data.

    Thank you,
    Nali

  34. HelloYagya, how are you? I have a question, and I think you can help me with that. I am using CM7, which uses gingerbread as base. If I flash this CM9 ROM, which has ICS as base, can I go back to CM7 later? Or will I have to flash stock ROM, then CWM and then the ROM again? Thanks and sorry for bothering u :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. hey, can we use any other apps to use to camera.....

    ReplyDelete
  36.  No, the problem currently is with the camera driver and libraries. So, no camera will work.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Rafael Fernandes, No need to flash stock firmware and then flash CWM again to switch from CM9 to CM7. If you did a nandroid backup of your rom before flashing CM9 then you can either simply restore it or flash CM7 and then wipe data and cache and reboot. That's all.

  38. is the contact app can view contacts in sim card??

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm not sure about it... But, probably it can't. YOu will need to import sim contacts to phone by using either a third party app likes sim2contacts or (the option within the contact app --if available).

  44. Unfortunately, you might have bricked your phone. Luckily, I did the same and it is now up and running gingerbread. I used
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-mini-s5570/407866-tutorial-unbrick-mini-s5570-bricked-black-screen.html to unbrick it. Good Luck
