CyanogenMod has announced the release of official Cyanogen Mod 7.2 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of the famous Android 2.3.7 based android rom. This rom is the first official release of the year and it is now available for download to 70 supported devices including both high and low-end devices. You can find details of the release at this article. And among those 70 devices falls the mid-range Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 smartphone. This is a very good news for galaxy mini/pop/next users since this is their very first official release of Cyanogen Mod rom.
CM 7.2 RC1 for galaxy mini being first official release itself is a great news. However, I didn't find it that great while using. Maybe it's because I've been using unofficial build available at xda-developers forum which I found to have more features. However, I will need to admit that it's great for those wanting to move away from stock rom to a stable build. It performed quite well during my short test and ran smooth with no lags. The performance was well though I couldn't test out the battery because of lack of time. The sound quality was nice and DSP Manager added further to it's improvement.
However, despite of being stable I don't like it as I had expected. It lacks features that are there in unofficial builds by xda-developer, squadzone. No more soft buttons, no status bar style battery display, no FM Radio app (this can be managed by installing Spirit FM app from market) and no more overclocking. Yes, those who are planning to overclock will have to wait for some kernels to be developed first. I don't seem to like it because it lacks all these extra features. However, it shouldn't be the case with you. It's perfectly fine for those who are looking for stable CM7 and are ok even with out these extra features.
Though it's like previous unofficial builds you can view some screen-shots at this article.

ReplyDeleteYou can flash google apps in cwm recovery and get them. Search for gapps for gingerbread here using the search bar and you will find them.
ReplyDeleteI can't understand what you mean. I guess you mean home, back and menu are not working in recovery mode. Of course they don't work in recovery. You use Volume Up and Down for navigation and Home button for selection of option. Try it again.
ReplyDeleteBattery consumption is improved in this version. Try it.

ReplyDeleteHi Yagya!
ReplyDeleteI have a Cyanogen mod 7.2 rc5.7 rom on my galaxy mini. I like it! But unfortunately, it has touch screen problem whit it. :( So i want to flash Official CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1. on my galaxy mini. Can i flash it on the CM 7.2 rc5.7 or i have to flash Gingerbread and Clockwork mod recovery first? Or Do you know why touch screen is problem? Sorry, my english!
I want to install cyanogenmod, i have 2.3.6 DDKQ7 frimware for india, it's posible to upgrade this firmware to CM7?
ReplyDeleteYes, you can install it on Indian firmware too. Just follow the instructions carefully.
ReplyDeleteI installed CM7 RC1 but sometimes I can't unlock the phone, black screen nothing else
ReplyDeleteYagya, please answer to me.
ReplyDeleteyes you can!!!! flash your RC 5.7 to RC 5.1. All you have to do is copy RC 5.1 in root of sdcard and go to recovery. Then you can clear data and clear cache. After that select install update from zip. wait for it to finish and clean cache and data again.. that's all..
ReplyDeleteI recommend you : First install S5570XWKC1 after S5570XWKC7 and a late gingerbread! Now you can install cyanogenmod ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, you can flash it on RC 5.7 directly. Make sure you wipe data and cache after flashing.
ReplyDeleteI am not known to any touch screen problem. I am also running this rom and for me everything is working well.
I guess you mean boot. If you are talking about black screen with Android written on it, then wipe data and cache in recovery and reboot again. It should boot fine after few minutes.
ReplyDeleteI have 2.3.5 XWKS2 frimware, it's posible to upgrade this firmware to CM7? THX!
ReplyDeletecan you give me md5checksum number ?
ReplyDeleteYes, it's possible to upgrade as long as your phone is not locked to carrier and your device is Galaxy Mini :D.
