Maclaw couldn't have chosen a better day than the start of the week day to release another beta version of the long anticipated CyanogenMod 9 custom rom for Samsung Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570 smartphone. Yes, today Maclaw announced the release of cyanogenmod 9 Rom. But, it's not Beta 6, instead galaxy mini/pop users are getting CM9 Beta 7 with some major improvements and changes to rom. However, still after all the efforts from the developers at GalaxyICS team, Camera is still not working in this rom. But, that doesn't mean you need to be disappointed and skip through the rest of the article since, CM9 Beta 7 consists of huge improvements making it a --must flash-- major update for those anticipating the release of stable Ice Cream Sandwich rom. So, continue reading after the break to know further details about this update.
Cyanogenmod 9 Beta 7 has improved a lot since last beta 4 release. With this rom the hardware acceleration is working just fine and there are no more flickers. The rom runs smoothly and at a considerable speed even without having to overclock it. The changes are not much in the user interface and it looks pretty much same as previous CM9 release, however there have been huge change in kernel which has improved overall performance of the rom. Below, I've got the change log for CM9 Beta 7 from the developers thread.

That's all. You have now installed CyanogenMod 9 Beta 7 on Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570 smartphone. As you will soon notice, this rom is nearing perfection and now we are not far from a stable CyanogenMod 9 rom which will have all features working on it. However, for now this android rom still has the usual camera bug, but still it can be used for normal daily use. You'll also notice that the battery life is now improved and prolonged . So, enjoy this beta 7 for now until further updates. If you have any problems while flashing or any other doubts then feel free to ask me at the comments below.

ReplyDeleteis this the last update of cm9 for galaxy mini!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
ReplyDeletethe camera isn't working . is this the last beta of cyanigen mod 9 ?
ReplyDeleteNo, further releases will be there and the are likely to be until this rom becomes stable. We might get Beta 9 anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteI cant find agnything from the download link.
ReplyDeleteSo Camera wont work even if we use 3rd party apps ?
ReplyDeleteWon't flash without camera, but looks like the ROM it's indeed nearing perfection and I can't wait for it.
Thank you for all your work Yagya.
Well, it's all your choice. One recent good news is that one of the developer has successfully run Camera app without error, however, it still is not fully functional. But, it will be improved in the course of development.

ReplyDeletecamera not working
ReplyDeletedoes usb storage work?
ReplyDeleteI'm using CM9 beta 7. My prob is , the voice at the receiver end is not clear (as they complain it to me). Is this a bug in this ROM, I've tried for any settings in the system, but found nothing. Goggling also didn't do any favor. Also it hangs up many times and reboots itself. Is there anyone found/having the similar problem. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteYes, it work very well.
ReplyDeleteThe voice might be a bug. I don't use call feature that much so I'm unaware about it. About the reboots, I've not faced any while using the device for a week or more. Did you wipe data and cache after flashing the rom? If not do so now. Otherwise, tell me when does it reboots? Meaning, what are you doing when it reboots like installing a game or an app, etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reply. Regarding reboots, it happened once when i've opened Asphault game, the next time when i'm working with Mobo launcher, once while i'm about to change the unlock pattern, and two-three times while while working some other things. Otherwise it is a great experience to work with CM9.
ReplyDeletehey i updated my galaxy pop in cy 9 beta 7....
ReplyDeletebut when i go to access points to chose them...suddnly it appers unfortunatly . the process.comandroid.phone has stopped.
now why dis coming? in the features clearly said that data conection works..now its not workin... :(
n camera also :'(
Well, CM9 being beta has issues with compatibility of apps, so it is normal for some apps to force close or your system to reboot while running some apps. Remember not all apps work fine with Android 4.0. I suggest you avoid doing those things for now and wait for next CM9 Beta 9. It will be more stable than current version.
ReplyDeleteWell then i'll wait for beta 9. So when can we expect it to be released.
ReplyDeleteThat's a bug with beta 7. Let's hope for it to be fixed in Beta 9 and wait patiently until it's release.
ReplyDeleteCamera, galary and FM not working. I hope new release will solve this, galaxy ICS settings also not working.
ReplyDeleteI can't add the track in music
ReplyDeletecn i install camera.apk of ics? it will work?
ReplyDeletecn i install camera.apk of ics?? it will work or not?
ReplyDeletecamera.apk using in dis rom is taken from ics or selfcreated?
my data connection is also not working! what to do?
ReplyDeleteNo, you can't make camera work by yourself by any means. Also, data connection has also some bugs at the moment. Just wait until next release is there. And, don't post spam comments (randomly).
ReplyDeletebefore cm 9 i had emanon v6 rom and when i flashed cm9 without wiping data the camera was working. Why dont they fix camera with the help of this rom or some other rom.Sorry but i did not know how i could contact to the owner of this rom so i wrote over here. If you have time just tell this to him. Thnx!!!!!!! ;')
ReplyDeleteWell, are you sure about what you just said? Maybe you had an illusion. Did you double checked it? If possible post some screenshots showing the running camera app.
ReplyDeletey cant we flash camera.apk file same as that of andro id 3.3 in galaxy pop and make the version run perfectly like all other roms alone with the camera working
ReplyDeletei didnt know that camera wasnt working so i went back and wiped all data!! But i am trying to do that again!!!!!! thnx1!!!!
ReplyDeletecuz there are some other files which are required by the camera!!!!
ReplyDeletei am trying to put camera files from other roms and trying to make a gingerbread camera!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewell, good luck with it. This doesn't mean to down your spirit but, I'm quite sure you aren't getting anything with that.
ReplyDeletegoogle chrome beta not working.
ReplyDeleteshit shit shit! I flashed my Galaxy Pop... followed all d steps correctly... bt d installation stops and says tmp/ sideload package.zip error... and now m nt able to access my fone at all... plz tell me wat to do... m a 14 yr old guy... really scared... plz get me a solution as soon as possible! please! thank u... :'(
ReplyDeleteYour download seems to be corrupted... Try downloading the zip again and flash it by going to recovery again. The zip size is 126 MB.
ReplyDeleteFor now you can recovery your device in two ways :
Either download this or any other rom and flash it in recovery.
Or, flash a stock firmware using Odin as described in the link given in Step 1 above.
Do a data and cache wipe in recovery after flashing if you are stuck in boot animation or logo for a long time (above 5-10 minutes). And, don't panic at all. Stay calm at any situation and don't do worse.
the link in Step 1 is for updating it to 2.3.4... i want it to update to 4.0.4... i downloaded the file again and did the flashed it again... the same response... i even tried beta 4... plz give me d necessary steps and links to update my android via Odin... thnk u for responding... 4.0.4 is wat i need... all i get after the rebooting process is a white screen...
ReplyDeleteOfficial Android 4.0.4 is not available for Galaxy mini yet. However, unofficial CM9 based on ICS Android 4.0.4 is available and above one is the latest of this rom.
ReplyDeleteYou should wait for few minutes in the white screen and it will boot up fine normally. Flash the rom again and wait till 5-10 minutes.
i tried... i surfed d internet for other options... the answers i got were use a new SD card... i did... sum1 said that the reason is dat u unchecked unknown sources in the settings... i dont noe... i waited for 30 mins after d flashing process... the white screen doesnt go... plz tell me the process to flash CM9 via odin... thats d only thing i can think of ryt now...

ReplyDeleteYou can flash a custom rom via Odin. First install Clockwork mod recovery v4.0.0.5 *only this version, then install cm9 as instructed below. Make sure you do data and cache wipe in recovery and then, reboot. It should boot fine. Try flashing twice if it doesn't work right away.
ReplyDeleteHAHA LOL I WAS SO STUPID I THOUGHT BETA4 IS BETTER THAN BETA7 SO I INSTALLED BETA4 FIRST...AND STARTED HATING CYANOGEN BUT AFTER FLASHING BETA7 ... OMG ITS SOOOOOOOOO SMOOTH AND LAG LESS AS COMPARED TO BETA4 THANKS TO ALL
ReplyDeleteTHE DEAL IS MY GAMES ARE STILL LAGGING !!! ;[ ASPHALT5 BIA2 GANGSTAR RIO...
ReplyDeleteThere's no necessary to write in all capital letters at all. Anyway, those games are not to be played on Galaxu Mini so, if you are trying them then lag is inevitable. I say, be happy for those game ran on your mini.
