CyanogenMod 9 is one of the much anticipated android rom especially for those devices which can't have official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update as this is their only hope to try out the latest Android software on their smartphone. And, thankfully, a bunch of android developers recognized by the name of GalaxyICS are working on to successfully develop a stable and fully working cyanogenmod 9 custom rom on different series of Samsung's Galaxy series smartphone including but not limited to Galaxy Ace, Mini, Gio and Fit. But, the task is not easy since these devices have minimal hardware which will have hard time to load and run Ice Cream Sandwich on their end. However, with many tweaks in kernel and system the developers have made it possible to have ICS on these devices and have succeeded quite far that in the latest builds most things work perfectly except for the camera. CM9 Beta 8 is the latest release for Galaxy Ace and Gio which has huge improvements.

ReplyDeleteIs this version available for Samsung Galaxy Mini yet ?
ReplyDeleteI really want to test it. I'm tired and bored with the stock ROM. Want to try something new and this seems like the right thing. Been waiting for the stable version for months.
No, not for mini. Mini is supposed to get Beta 9 directly without Beta 8. You can try beta 7 if you want to. It's quite good.
ReplyDeleteNo camera for now. But, a developer has been successful in starting the app without error. However, it still doesn't work. But. it will aid in future releases.

ReplyDeleteis beta 8 properly working? i have tried it earlier today. installation was a success, though when i had it reboot it only goes to show "SAMSUNG" logo and then it fades to a black or skyblue screen. what could have i done wrong?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is working fine. You just need to wipe data and cache in recovery and reboot your device again. Also, note that you'll need to wait patiently few minutes for it to boot. If it still doesn't work, flash the rom again reading the instructions carefully.
